Thompson Twins - Into the Gap Live (2025)
14 songs, 9 added; 64.29%
liked the thompsons for a while, but specifically got fixated on the title 'into the gap' for a month or so.
was considering buying the studio version on disc but the two places i've checked it's $50-60 each, the hell.

ranking of 'a day on the green' acts;
The Script
2. Montaigne
3. Calum Scott
4. Lotte Gallagher
5. X Ambassadors
this list isn't biased at all, but by the time The Script came on it was nighttime and wasn't 45°C anymore.

Little Mix - Get Weird (Expanded Edition) (2015)
16 songs; 10 added, 62.5%
now, you may notice a difference with this one. i know there's an iron man thing behind me, fuck off, it was a christmas present from 2022.
i like having CDs, collecting them, and generally i've listened to them separately and buy them because i like them. (the exception of course being the Hot Shot by Shaggy cassette, i don't remember why i bought that). this one was different. i'm pretty sure Black Magic is going to be my most listened to song of the year in Wrapped, so i feel like i *should* have it.
it's going to be one of five;
Black Magic by Little Mix (30%)
This Old Road by Kris Kristofferson [the version from 'This Old Road' not the version from 'Repossessed'} (25%)
Fuck Around and Find Out by Gibbons (15%)
Everybody Hurts by R.E.M. (15%)
You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon (15%)
i knew Love Me Like You from somewhere, same with Hair.
i'd have opened my curtains for natural light, with diffusion and things, but it's like 36C out there, i'm good. here screenshot instead

Tim Haywood - Bloons Monkey City (2015)
24 songs; 13 added, 54.17%
when 'The Dance' started, i was strcuk by how similar it sounded to a song that i knew, but not the name of. a song that i knew the lyrics; 'na, na na na na, na na na na na na na. tonight we're gonna sit on the floor. it was 'on the floor' by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull. It's not interesting, but it's certainly something.

was almost certain I wouldn't know any. Why would I, I don't know any McFly or Busted songs, but then 'Get Over It' started and I knew it from somewhere.

Ben Folds - Sleigher (2024)
10 songs; 6 added, 60%
hmm, i wonder if that dog wears a path on the same line (drum sting)
i wonder if the guy's looking down at the line in the snow made by bike tire, following, following, following, until eventually a mess is made and footsteps start to appear alongside it, and he, in the moment, thinks it's really interesting, but knows how difficult it would be to document and show to other people. (muted trombone?)
I remember seeing a post on the subreddit asking 'is Lindsey Kraft a new romance?' and that seems a step too far. They then follow up that that's the only reason she's the opening act for him currently, nepotism. And, like, I don't enjoy the idea of shipping real people. fictional characters lack that agency that allows them to pursue romance on their own, so fans pushing them in specific ways is fine, but real people? i feel like it's strange, and so i don't do it.
got a bit nervous about the setup for X-Mas Aye Eye, but looking at the lyrics? no way.

Art Garfunkel & Art Garfunkel Jr. - Father and Son (2024)
12 songs; 8 added, 66.67%
when I brought this album's announcement up to my aunt, who is also a fan specifically of Garfunkel, she pointed out the background of the cover for 'Time After Time' was the same as for 'Fate for Breakfast', which I like
the rest of this is going to be on the Me First and the Gimme Gimmes performance, all notes made as it was going; (brackets being edits afterwards, curly brackets being options that i'm not sure which it is, and square brackets being editing notes to myself)
now, i do not look punk, my though of what to wear were my only pair of ripper pants, sneakers and a buttoned shirt. two of them i did go with, but subbed out the buttoned shirt for a Knowledge Demon one.
and before halloween i might have passed, but i shaved and had a severe haircut, from reaching the bottom of my nose cut back to my eyebrows (afterwards; there were multiple guys with thr same haircut, i guess it's an attitude thing)
figured it wouldnt start at 7, that doesn't seem very "punk rock" [editing note; change that to like purple and bold] but it was 9:30. generally that'd be fine, but i don't know how long they'll go, and i have work at 5 the next morning, so i'm nervous
also kinda nervous in general, and about going to a pub by myself middlingly far from home, i try to keep my head down normally, so asking about shit worries me
bought my first drink and stood back a bit from the bar to drink it, and had a couple of people ask if i was in line, one of which was the guitarist of the first band. waited for the ticket checking to start
the first act asked if there were any Mormons there. the song after that was pretty good, but i don't remember the band (St Judes). loved the {bass player, other guitarist}, who did the full ball jump, the one where you bring your knees up as much ad you can, and turned and played at the drummer and stuff. pretty good
the second band, Dwarves, was b much louder and had a guy in a balaclava aNd no shirt in the audience. and the singer went over and posed midsobg for a lady's camera. Salt Lake City was a highlight.
it's occurred to me that i don't know what any of MFatGG' look like, so the people setting up the guitars and cables might be roadies, or might be them
one of the songs while setting g up sounded like a ska or punk cover of 99 Luftballons. i love that song. what i don't love is the English lyrics, which is what they used
i think the lead singer was at the bar next to me filling his water bottle, but i'm not good with faces sometimes
they were roadies, and the water bottle guy i think was a guitarist
the biggest mosh was for fucken On the Road Again
there was a lady in an admiral coat, and a guy sitting at the back with curly hair down to his elbows, and a jacket with patches, and i think he looked great

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - Have a Ball (1997)
i have to divert from the format, because i'd already added some of the songs from just picking names i knew. so i'll include both
12 songs; 4 added (today), 33.33%, 8 added (total), 66.67%
the narrative i've told myself afterwards is that i listened to them a bit, went 'oh, this is neat, let's see if they're touring nearby', and when i looked it up, saw they'd been in my city the previous week. this isn't true. i first listened to them September last year, and they were here February
they are coming in November this year, so i'll probably go, and see if i can rope in some of my friends too. i'll update this if i do.

Tears for Fears - Songs for a Nervous Planet (2024)
22 songs; 7 added, 31.81%
This one's on the go, I'm waiting for my film. So if the formatting weird, forgive it.
I didn't listen, specifically, to this album, I made a point to go see the live film, and booked the afternoon off from work to do it. And then I dozed off through Woman in Chains and Badman's Song.
Something I noticed in their introduction, not when it was announced, was that it was 'A Tipping Point Film', not 'The Tipping Point Film', legitimising all of the fan phone ones

Lior - The Blue Parade (2024)
9 songs; 7 added, 77.78%
i've been a fan of Lior since at least 2010, when he did the closing track for Giggle and Hoot, the ABC kids program, and we had 'Tumbling into the Dawn' in the car. then i had the normal amount of 'ew, i liked that as a kid, now that i'm a tween/teen, i think it's lame'. and that was my thinking until about 2019, when i relistened to Shadow Man and Bells of Montreal, and went 'this is actually pretty good', and it was all fine again.
he IS based in Australia, but i haven't been to any of his shows because he stays east coast.
* * *
halfway through, i had an urgent call, and closed my laptop, which decided to update.

Toad the Wet Sprocket - Dulcinea (1994)
13 songs; 7 added, 53.85%
now, a piece of trivia about me. despite not having read the book, i'm a massive fan of Don Quixote.
equally, i like doing quizzes on specific topics that i'm big on.
so when i saw a quiz in April last year about songs based on books (i reckon it's the New York Times one, the timing would line up, i just don't have an account), i jumped at it, knowing that Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. and it took me this long to get to the rest of the album that 'Windmills' was on.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - ¡Blow It… At Madison's Quinceanera! (2024)
13 songs; 6 added, 46.15%
and this is one of the reasons i was so disappointed with myself for not getting through that previous playlist, because i knew this was coming out and went 'right, i'm going to get in on day 1, i'm going to listen', and i missed it by nearly four months.
tier list.
