For obvious reasons we can change this work on the fly and at very short notice if we have to. We have gone through and picked out these images for selection with a view to cutting down to 3-4 images focussing on London theme like the others.

After a brief Instagram conversation with Luke I have picked out images that I think could work with this exhibition. Luke has a very distinctive style and his best work is taken at night so contrasting to James's work but as long as the work is correctly displayed at the exhibition this should not be a issue. His work still fits the brief perfectly

After meeting with James and going over the new brief and concept idea. These are the images we picked out that both me and James thought would be suitable for the exhibition.

We have focussed on a vibrant colourful style that showcases the best of touristic London as a centrepiece for the exhibition

Artists and Concept Update

The artists have been kept up to date and are well informed of the progress. It has been difficult to give them specific information without a venue currently. The original artist list has been cut down to James Relf Dyer (@Jamesrefldyer) Luke Holbrook (@holbrookshots) and Jonny Rogers (@jpr.photos). We have lost Rachel Fuller (@rachfullerphotos) due to a lack of communication. We decided it would be better to stick with 3 artists for now and look for a 4th if absolutely necessary. 

Our Concept due to severe time constraints has had to be streamlined more to accommodate a short turnaround of photos for the exhibition from the artists. Whilst originally we were asking them to shoot specifically for the exhibition with work that had not been displayed anywhere else. This under time constraints became very difficult to chase up. Therefore we decided to focus on different Images of London from these Instagrammers and do a collective ‘London Instagram’ themed expo.

Updates

Due to complications within the group the due date of June 25th did not materialise into anyhing therefore we have had to delay to the final exhibition to late August time. This has had major effect on the whole exhibition and we have had to split up responsibilities and roles more liberally as a result of this group complication. 

As of now the new designated roles are:

Artists and Concept, Social Media Promotion : Jonny

Finance, Logistics, Printing: Frankie 

Venue sourcing , Social Media Promotion: Kelsey  

We will all be working to get the venue ready for when we decide is a suitable time to sort out the venue.

More Venues

FOUR CORNERS (Above) 

Pros: 

- Any external catering or alcohol is allowed to be served 

- Can hold a capacity of 250 standing 

- Crisp white walls and wooden floors 

- Already has projectors or any other film equipment available onsite to hire if needed

- A bright, affordable place starting at £100 

- Located close to the underground station 

Cons:

- Located in Bethnal Green, more east than we wanted 

- The outside is not very appealing compared to the inside so it does not look very appealing 

- Prices to hire are still pretty vague 

THE BHAVAN (Above)

Pros:

- Capacity a fairly decent size of 150 standing

- From £20 per hour

- Located extremely close to the underground station

- An outdoor decked area available 

- Pedestals, tables, chairs and wi-fi available 

- The hire charge includes website and e-mailing publicity 

- Rail & sliding hanging systems available 

Cons:

- A minimum 4-day hire is required 

- Non-alcoholic events only

- Although close to the underground station, still not as close to central London as we wanted

Venues

When it comes to venues we have kept the criteria very vague, all we have specified in our search is that it is in London due to the nature of the photographs all being shot of London. The layout is not particularly important due to it being several different artists, it is quite easy for the layout to be a bit more fluid around whatever space.

Venue 1 - Atrium at Art Number 23

Pros -

Located in Peckham which is easily accessible through London

Large open space which will make plenty of room for hanging work

Professional gallery lighting already in place

Plinths available

Promotion of event through their mailing list and website

Brick walls should compliment the style of photographs

£200 per day, £600 for the desired 3 days

Very close to tube station

Cons -

Possibly a little too dark and Grungy

May not look appealing to some viewers

Located in an industrial estate which may discourage some viewers

THRDS Studio

Pros -

Located in Peckham, easily accessible

Appealing looking white exhibition space

High ceilings which may be beneficial for projecting work

Disabled access

£400-800 daily

Cons -

Only capacity of 50 people

Unsure of location but may be slightly out of the way for some people

Has loading doors which might discourage people from thinking it is an exhibition from outside

Project Proposal

Shot for Screen

This is the name chosen for our exhibition. We chose this as we wanted a name which gives a basic premise for the exhibition, however, will also raise initial thoughts as to what an image shot for screen looks like in comparison to imagery which they are already familiar with. With this, sparked curiosity we hope that it will encourage people to visit the exhibition in person.
