I am VERY CLEARLY asking for proof that someone with a license agrees with you, be it peer reviewed article or research paper etc. Stop playing the fucking victims. By yalls own definition proshipping is either centrism or support of peoples fantasies even when those fantasies are about gross and unspeakable thing.

Many of you say therapists endorse it which is fucking insane considering A: it's a very broad term including many different people. And B: not even y'all can decide whether or not people use it to cope with trauma or just for recreation, only one of which a therapist would actually be able to endorse professionally.

A random person on an site where they can maintain anonymity should not be trusted in any way shape or form when talking about them being a therapist and what they endorse

In a situation where someone is very clearly and very much biased to one side of a discussion in no way should their opinion be recognized. especially if the prior bullet point applies as well.

A misconception about the proship vs. antiship debate is that proshippers believe that anti shippers don’t want anyone to consume problematic media. Even though it’s okay for people to refuse to consume media with problematic themes and/or if the creator has done problematic things, you can enjoy problematic media as long as you’re critical about and understand why it’s deemed as problematic.

Let’s use Attack on Titan for example. As much as I enjoy the anime I can see the antisemitic undertones within it and understand why many Jewish people are put off by it. Like how the armbands the Marleyians wore are similar to the armbands worn by Nazi soldiers and the experiments done on the Eldian born citizens have similarities to the experiments done on Holocaust prisoners.

Consuming problematic media for the purpose of exploring darker themes is okay as long as you know those things are wrong. Proshippers on the other hand taking those problematic themes and glorify it. Which is why anti shippers are put off by proshippers, especially the anti shippers who are victims and their trauma is based off of what proshippers are glorifying.

I also want to add onto this but it’s not just proshippers that doing this kind of stuff. It’s also the people who are uncritical when it comes to consuming problematic media. And when someone criticizes that media, those uncritical people would go out of their way to harass (and maybe do something worse than that) the people criticizing that said media. A perfect example of that is the Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel fans who are so uncritical that they went out of their way to harass me and be ableist toward me for saying that the r slur shouldn’t of been mentioned and shouldn’t be used as an insult due to the fact that it’s a harmful word and used to discriminate disabled people.

Anti shippers aren’t telling people to not consume problematic media. We don’t want anyone to glorify problematic stuff due to the fact that those problematic themes also happen in real life. Proshippers and uncritical people use the excuse that since it’s fictional they can glorify that kind of stuff. And in return there will be people that are going to be bothered by it and will criticize it. And those people have the right to criticize and be put off by problematic media, especially if it affects them based on past trauma.

I’m gonna stop here because I don’t want to keep going on and on about it. Proshippers and uncritical people really need to leave antishippers and critical people alone. You people are just mad because you’re making people uncomfortable and not caring about it.

Anyone else find it suspicious that proshippers only ever interact with content made for children? I have yet to see one with a blog or ships based media for adults let alone for older teens, its always a show or book with the target age ranges of like 10-15.

Hey, with all that's been going on here's a PSA to anyone who has considered leaving the proship community that may see this somehow;

Leaving communities like that can be hard, I know how guilt trippy and downright horrible people can be in those situations. But don't feel bad about leaving, if people hurt you over your doubts they aren't your friends

Here's a quick run down on how to get away from that community:

Block every proshipper you follow and every proshipper that follows you

Delete any proship sideblogs. Don't archive them, delete them. It will help you in the long run

Leave any proship-lead groups or fandoms

Find new interests for a bit, or interact with your current interests in a new, safer way

Reach out to others outside your old groups, I know it feels hard to make friends outside of such tight-knit communities like that, but you won't always be alone

Find safe and constructive ways to cope with any trauma (either previously existing or from exposure to proship content), look up ways to do this that don't involve indulging in your traumas

That's all I can really give for now, and I'm not expecting any ex-proshipper to buddy up with any antis like us but if you're having doubts, or feel like the community and content is toxic, hopefully this will help to distance yourself from it
