If I was in a fanfiction and started coughing up flowers while working at a flower shop (because this is a flower shop au) I would NOT connect my crush on the tattoo artist next door to the flower cough situation. I would freak the fuck out and think the pollen at work was doing some Last of Us shit to me, quit my job and move FAR away. inadvertently my flame for the tattoo artist would fade with distance, solving my hanahaki situation and proving my 'the flowers were trying to turn me into a plant zombie' theory

Linking together some of your (excellent!) answers to previously received asks, I feel like the times in which Jaime brings up the death of Elia’s children are often supposed to be a coded way of him actually addressing his guilt/responsiblity towards the Stark children.

Specifically I’m thinking about his ADWD conversation with Hoster Blackwood where he says his father stopped feuds by killing all his enemies children, and then Hoster points out that the Stark children aren’t all dead and Jaime prays for Brienne. Jaime isn’t actually culpable for the death of Elia’s children, he never expected that to happen. But by talking about it, he’s able to conceive that he could be responsible for this next group of children he does see danger for. Assuming that he should have died for Elia, or that he needs to redeem himself by dying for Jon Snow or whatever is thinking way too literally, whereas GRRM’s analogies tend to be a lot looser and more associative.

yep exactly, I think Jaime sees the stark girls not just as a ‘last chance for honour’ but a way to ensure history does not repeat itself. I don’t know if he’s consciously drawn that connection but subconsciously he definitely has

I think I’ve talked about it before, but my mom has been a quilter for most of my life and in the last few years started doing these really cool fabric collages, and it was my turn to request one so I asked for a phoenix cause I’m obsessed with this one art piece I did in art therapy ages ago

Don't know how to do something? Look it up.

See a piece of news mentioned on social media? Look it up.

Not sure if something is making it to the broader public consciousness, either because you don't see it much or you see people saying nobody is talking about it? Look it up.

Don't know what a word means? Look it up.

It will make you a better reader and a better writer, but it will also just make you more equipped to cope with the world.

So often, I see people talking about something as though it is the first time anyone has ever acknowledged it, when I've been reading reports about it on the news for months or years. Or I see someone totally misinterpreting an argument because they clearly don't know what a word means--or, on the other hand, making an argument that doesn't make sense because they aren't using words the right way.

Look things up! Check the news (the real news, not random people on social media)! Do your research! You (and the world) will be better for it.
