Eddie catches up to Ben before he walks out onto the field, he hands him the small trinket Beverly had given him moments earlier.

“Bev said this is for good luck, and that she loves you.” Eddie smiles when Ben blushes.

“Thanks Eddie and tell her I love her too.” Ben claps Eddie on the shoulder before tucking the trinket under his jersey and into the padding strapped to his chest.

“Good luck Ben!” Eddie yells as he runs off back to the grandstands.

Eddie meets Beverly on the highest level of the stand and relays the message to her from Ben and watches as she too blushes. She couldn’t go to him because last time she did she wouldn’t let him out onto the field. Everyone likes to remind her from time to time to make her blush.

“Man I love him.” She sighs lovingly.

Eddie’s so happy for her, it took three years for them to get together but now that they’re together nothing could tear them apart. They’re truely soulmates, or so Eddie likes to believe.

Eddie tries to follow along with the game but footballs never been his type of sport, any type of sport isn’t really his type now that he thinks about it. He cheers nonetheless for Ben and Mike, they win and it’s all loud screaming for the team. Why does Eddie come to these things again?

“Bev I’m gonna go to the canteen, you want anything while I’m there?” Eddie asks over the excitement of the win.

“Uh just twizlers Eddie!” Eddie nods and walks across the bleachers, down the concrete stairs and to the canteen.

It’s mostly empty for… oh no.

“If it isn’t little Eddie Kaspbrak.” Henry Bowers.

Eddie really doesn’t feel like getting beat up today.

“Hello Henry.” Henry’s gang circle around him and Eddie genuinely fears his life for a second.

“Man I was having a real shit night, and you just happen to come along and make it better. Thanks Eddie.” Henry sneers as he grabs Eddie’s arm.

“Henry please don’t, don’t!” Eddie looks around him fearfully when his eyes meet Richie Toziers.

Richie stares blankly at him, he doesn’t care, what did Eddie expect.

“C’mon Bowers, this little bitch isn’t worth our time.” Richie throws out casually.

Henry looks to Richie and huffs, he lets go of Eddie’s arm and steps back with a dirty smile.

“You’re lucky he’s right Eddie, or you’d be a bloody pulp on the ground right about now.” Eddie backs away as fast as he can.

“Run before he changes his mind.” Richie warns.

Eddie heeds his words and runs away from the canteen and back to the safety of Bev and the crowd.

“Hey where’s my…. Eddie did something happen? You look like you’ve died and come back.” Eddie relays what happened moments earlier.

“That fucker! Let me at ‘em! I’ll end that mullet wearing bitch for threatening you!” Eddie smiles a little at her bravery and courage.

“It’s okay, Richie saved me, kinda convinced Henry that I wasn’t worth his time.” Eddie shrugs, thankful that Richie helped him, sorta.

“Still I could take him! Tell me when and I’ll be there.” Eddie laughs this time. Beverly never ceases to amuse him.

“Thanks and I’m sure you could.” Sometimes Bev could be scary, put a few vodka shots into her and she becomes something else.

“You’re kinda lucky that Richie decided not to be a dick, it was sorta outta character for him though.” Eddie agrees. Very out of character in deed.

Beverly and him walk down from the stands and meet Mike and Ben down by the sidelines, he feels instantly safer and lets the tension drop from his shoulders. It could have been worse he thinks.

Conversion Camp 5

Eddie officially hates everything, everything in this god forsaken world!

“Eddie stop being salty it’s just a little camping nothing more.” Richie nudges him with his elbow.

“Fuck that! I don’t want to, where’s Bev? She’ll get me outta this.” Eddie scans for the curly red head but can’t seem to find her in the crowd.

“Dude camping’s not that bad, I don’t know why you’re having a hissy fit over it like you’re at a camp what did you expect?” Eddie glares at Richie and the taller boy shrinks back.

“I came to this stupid camp because my mother made me, I was told that I would be sleeping in a cabin, not a stupid ass tent with a ratty sleeping bag!” Richie has the audacity to laugh.

“Eds, seriously, you’re overreacting. Sleeping in a tent isn’t terrible plus, I’ll be there and it’ll suck less with me. I swear you’ll come back to the grounds smiling and saying how much you love spending the night with me.” He winks and licks his lips and Eddie’s cheeks flush.

That gets the smaller boy to shut up, it even makes him forget temporarily about the whole tent thing.

“Alrighty! Now if you guys can grab your tents and sleeping gear we’ll be heading off now.” Shouts one of the guides.

Richie picks up the two man tent and kicks the sleeping bags to Eddie, Eddie stares at the rolled up bags before he hikes them up his sides and under his armpits.

“Alright troop, off we go!” Eddie hates this.

The forest gets dark quickly and before Eddie knows it the guide is already stoking the fire and cooking whatever was in the few cans they had packed.

“Hey Eds hope you don’t mind but I pitched the tent a little bit away cause fuck being around everyone else.” Richie mentions as he sits down next to Eddie.

“Uh yeah that’s fine.” Eddie’s slightly preoccupied trying to figure out when he zoned out and for how long.

The foods served out on mismatched plates and Eddie gives his to Richie when the older boy inhales his. The guide calls it a night and all the boys head to their shared tents, Richie grabs Eddie’s hand and tugs him along to a small dirt path and takes him further into the darkness, the tent soon comes into view and Eddie sighs happily, he’s glad to be going to sleep now.

“So like it’s not a huge tent so I had to zip out sleeping bags together, so yeah.” Richie rubs the back of his neck as he awkwardly shuffles forward.

“Oh um, yeah, okay.” God why is he being weird?

“I’m gonna change.” Richie grabs his backpack and walks off into the dark.

Eddie crawls into the tent taking his knapsack with him, he’s small enough to change-it totally doesn’t knock his self esteem down at all-and settles into his sleeping bag and waits for the older boy to come back. It’s cold and quiet and it’s driving Eddie insane, until Richie comes back smelling like dirt and drenched in water.

“Holy shit it’s starting to rain!” He shakes his hair like a dog and Eddie bitches about it.

“This tent’s secure enough to hold this kinda weather right?” Richie shrugs.

“We’ll soon find out.” Richie dives under the sleeping bag and settles down.

Eddie turns the lantern off and snuggles further under to the warmth, he just starts to fall asleep when he hears teeth chattering and hushed shivers.

“Are you okay?” Eddie asks quietly.

“I’m kinda soaked and I can’t get warm.” Oh no, this isn’t good.

Eddie knows what’s about to happen, holy shit his gay heart’s going to stop if his skin touches Richie’s.

“We could, we could hug for warmth?” Eddie suggests but it sounds very unsure.

“I guess.” Eddie wriggles forward and scrunches his nose in disgust at the soggy shirt.

“Richie take your clothes off, it’ll just make you colder.” Richie chuckles.

“There are easier ways to get my clothes off Eds.” Eddie shakes his head and waits.

Richie shuffles around until he’s left in his briefs and Eddie moves closer and decides it’s now or never and shrugs his shirt off and pulls Richie into a hug that may be too tight from nerves.

“Fuck you’re freezing Richie, you’re lucky you don’t have hypothermia.” Eddie rubs the broad back in hopes to get his core temper up.

“Yeah guess I am lucky.” Eddie doesn’t dare look up at the chocolate eyes cause he knows he’ll drown as soon as he does.

They hold each other until Richie stops shaking and chattering and even then some.

“Are you warm enough Richie?” Eddie murmurs against his skin.

He doesn’t get a reply and Eddie listens and hears soft snoring, oh, he’s asleep. Eddie tries to slip from the tight hold that Richie’s locked him into and fails, Eddie decides to just stay where he is an enjoy the moment while it lasts. He’s pretty sure this won’t ever happen again.

“Night Rich.” Eddie presses a soft kiss against Richie’s softly rising chest.
