He looked down at it, then back at pitch. "...would my accidental husband at least sit with me while I eat?"
Although his voice was soft, whenever he called pitch his 'accidental husband' it was poking fun at how they first came together, but it was affectionate in a fun way.
"It would be a waste of chair space if he didn't..."

He carefully moved around the other to get a spoon.
Before stepping in front of him. Halting pitch's movements, leaning forward and kissing him lightly.
"Want to share?"
Death glanced down at the food, staring at it for the longest time before his expression softened.
He carefully took it from the other. “Thank you love…” He said quietly.

Death watched him leave out of the corner of his eye, and curiosity got the better of him.
He followed and poked his head into the kitchen

Death had tried reading, being interrupted when pitch ended up beside him.
He stayed quiet for a moment, before giving a quiet 'hello' without looking up from his book

He had taken to wearing sweats at home, those being the only thing loose like his robes but without the skirt.
He moved to Change, resting his scythe on the wall carefully not to scratch into it.
The man's jaw was locked set into a clearly mad expression, he walked out of the room, grabbing a book on the way out.
He moved to the living room, and tossed himself on the couch, opening the book and glowering at the pages, too busy stewing in his own emotions to actually read the words presented to him on the pages

In a flash, he and pitch were in their home.
Death didn't say anything, he didn't even look at him. Dropping his hand as soon as they arrived.
He was angry with the other... Pitch had no right to say those things to him, to blame him...
Death waited a second before gripping his scythe tightly and holding his hand out for pitch.
"…home?"

"...home?"
"One of you…you keep saying that…there is only one of me." He looked at pitch confused.
"I bear this burden alone…" He said glancing at the body still on the side walk.
"We should leave this place…"

Death watched pitch go on, face a mask. Behind it emotions raged.
How dare the other yell at him...
How could he not understand?
He was right...death was horrible...
"...I didn't know you would try so hard... I was hoping I wouldn't have to step in... But everytime she came close... You interfered..."
Death stared at him blankly. "You're right... You shouldn't have said that... You had absolutely no right to judge me as such....this is the job I was given, and I feel bad enough about it as is..." He turned his head and looked away.
"I didn't need you trying to make it worse."

"She was supposed to go over an hour ago, in a car accident. I couldn't put it off any longer..."
He swallowed, pitch's question made him cast his eyes down. "She wouldn't have felt a thing...but...the marks it would leave would startle the mortals and chaos would erupt..." His eyes slowly pulled up, before trailing up to the blade of his scythe. "I could have used that..."
"I can’t…I don’t know how many times I have to tell you. It would upset everything."
His eyes trailed to the dark mark before focusing on pitch’s face. He pulled his hood down, getting tired of the stupid fabric.
"It is not my choice to make…it was her time. So I acted."

"I can't! I am physically incapable of doing anything! You don't know how it works, so you have no right to assume!" He snapped.
"Honestly, you think I wouldnt fight for this!? Have you forgotten I had to reap my own wife!? If I went and did what I want, the balance would be tipped pitch. No one would die!"

"No, I can't." He said, voice turning cold.
"And I don't simply 'sit back' as you put it. I have to do this every day! You think I don't know, it's not fair!?" His voice was rising.
He was not about to allow himself to be snapped at, over doing his job.

His hand tightened his grip on the handle of his scythe.
The question irritated him. Pitch already knew the answer.
"That's not my job." He said, face expressionless
Death sent the girl up the steps, she opened the door and stepped through, disappearing into the bright light.
Death straightened, glancing at the body laying on the pavement before turning his attention to pitch

"It was better then what was originally planned for her... I had two choices I also could have given her...one would have been extremely painful...the other she wouldn't have felt a thing but... This was better...trust me..." He explained quietly.
His attention was diverted as the girl sat up. Or rather the spirit, looking as she had before the sign fell.
She glanced around confused and death knelt in front of her, he smiled and spoke softly.
He wouldn't let her see her body. "What's your name?" He was telling her that her grandmother was waiting for her. Just beyond that door. He pointed at the door of the nearest building. An unearthly glow was shining out from under the door.
