Good Soggy Morning, y'all.Seeing how we've endured five storms this year, "Delta" being the sixth, I thought it was appropriate to post this piece which was  painted in 2006 for the Air Force Art Program a few months after Hurricane Katrina ransacked the entire Gulf coast. I decided to be selfish as the administrator of our Air Force Art wall page, to "pull rank" and use it for this months cover page. The title of this piece, "Katrina #1-Glory Be!"
Gregory Thompson, from the Pentagon, called me a few days after Katrina to see if I could be a part of the restoration effort in New Orleans and help record the goings on... being so close. I told him I couldn't even get into the city without some official USAF credentials. The Air Force Art Program director was set get me those permissions, but I couldn't justify leaving the family behind to get into my hometown from Folsom to document how the Air Force was assisting in the recovery. It would have been very interesting! Receiving the cell phone call that day, I replied, "Record it? Greg, I'm living it!"

This is a Prismacolor black sketch done from a photo I took of Michelle. She's one of the head nurses that came by, from time to time, to check on Therese, clean up any loose ends and stay atop any med changes.

GraphicGumbo3 is the third of three blog sites that I use to tell my stories. SketchieThoughts is the second of the three blogs that I use to show sketches, doodles, and onsite drawings on a daily basis, theoretically. 'Three' is a general forum for all things not necessarily art related.
