Who do you like better, Sleuth or Noir?

       FOR ONCE, GUMSHOE’S AT A   LOSS FOR WORDS  ; no amount of quick wit can save that wide, doe———eyed stare nor her sandpaper tongue that feels dry against the inside of her cheek.

       ❛ Can I say both? ❜ She sounds exhausted. ❛ I like them for different reasons, and I think they compliment each other well  ;  what one lacks in a certain quality, it seems as though the other makes up for it. They're  ———  ❜ the palm of her hand coyishly hides an impish grin ❛  ———  two peas in a pod. They’re too cute! You couldn’t make me decide.

       ❛ Granted, Sleuth and I have been on more field cases together. I remember when we saw one of the first rift portals above Loot Lake. Before that, he was very … professional. The moment we looked up and witnessed the sky literally  ———  splitting in half, he wouldn’t stop talking about it. He hadn’t so much as said one word about the case, and all of a sudden he starts going wild, keying together new and old clues  ———  trinkets he had buried deep within those coat pockets. It was charming to see him so animated for the first time. ❜ She pauses. ❛ But this isn’t a bias. We’re just a bit closer. ❜

       Gumshoe’s always admired his peculiar compassion  ;  the moments when she’d glance up from smudged fingerprints and see his nose buried deep within fauna kin, whispering, what she imagines, soothing lullabies and bizarre rhymes. She contemplates, briefly, inviting him to see her nursery at home later this evening.

       Opuntia microdasys  :  a ‘ bunny ear ’ cactus  ———  adorable! Gumshoe taps her cheek in thought. ❛ I like Velveteen … but that’s probably because I saw a rabbit with similar ears scampering around in the underbrush near Fatal Fields this morning. ❜

What do the poly crew like to do most together? What do they like to do on their time off?

i like to think that the three of them cycle through different patrol patterns  ———  some that allow two of them to go together while one stays at the agency  /  makes sure retail remains calm  ———  just so at least one of them is on active duty to make sure the island is safe while one stays behind  /  one is on break  ( or really any variant of this pattern ). when they’re all together, however, they focus on bigger cases and go on investigations, so that’s probably their favorite pastime together because their work is so demanding  ( but they like to joke around and be cute when things aren’t too serious u feel ) 

on the rare occasion they’re all able to spend time together outside of work, i think they’d be super chill with each other…….. all laying in awkward positions on the loveseat that’s too small but they don’t care OR… noir and sleuth going through gum’s little greenhouse to give each of her plants name tags for her to find later (’: little acts of affection because i don’t imagine them as super romantic people, but affectionate towards one another regardless

i can see them enjoying the nightlife a lot, too; nightclubs, bars, restaurants, etc. sure they cherish quiet, domestic days off, but going out to lounge and smoke in random, exotic nightclubs is something that suits them, i think. there’s a level of risk in their jobs that they like to toy with when not on duty. basically, their relationship lies on both ends of the spectrum; they’re either safe and comfortable with each other or they’re off doing more dangerous, seedy things  ( without breaking the law ofc )

       ❛ ONCE I … WAS LEFT TO   DIE IN A match. My partner never came, but it was my fault I got hurt, anyway  ;  I fell from a cliff and hit a rock below it. I tried crawling to a nearby tree, but my chest hurt so much that I could barely move. I wanted to spare myself the humiliation of getting shot by someone else, but my body felt like it was collapsing in on itself  ———  it was difficult to breathe  ———  and I knew then I wanted to be eliminated. I waited in an open field, but no one ever came.

       ❛ My vision began to cloud over, and at that point I realized I couldn’t feel anything below my waist  ;  everything was just … slowly leaving from my grasp. I thought I was finally dying, but then someone  ———  someone big  ———  walked up behind me, looped their arms around my middle, and tried to get me to stand on my feet, but my body gave up. I went limp in their arms, so when they started crying I jerked around like some  ———  rag doll. Eventually, I died, but I never found out who that was.

       ❛ It was odd, but … I suppose it’s nice to know that not everyone on the island is desensitized to these things. ❜
