Letter pressing workshop
I decided to choose the words ‘GLAM GRUNGE’ to represent my heritage brand, Vivienne Westwood.
Glam punk fashion, pioneered by bands like New York Dolls, includes glitter, androgynous make-up, brightly dyed hair, drainpipe jeans, elements of leather fetish wear, and unusual costumes like leopard print, spandex, or satin shirts. Malcolm McLaren informally managed New York Dolls in 1975, before returning to England, where he and Westwood used the New York Dolls, as well as other bands that they had seen while in New York, as inspiration for punk fashion. Therefore, I thought ‘GLAM GRUNGE’ were suitable key words.
