Claws the Pangolin

Made a new Sonic oc! Claws is a pangolin who likes to dig up ancient artifacts and animal bones! She's a really chatty gal who considers Knuckles a good friend.

I had the idea for Claws for a while before I made her. I absolutely love pangolins and thought that animal would make for an interesting Sonic oc.

Thorned Rosie

Forgot to post her sooner but this Rosie super form was the last thing I drew in 2024. Probably the best piece I could've ended that year on.

Rosie's super form, like many elements of her design, was inspired by Shadow. I gave her a silver-like color as an homage to Shadow's beta super form. I just added a pink tint to suit her.

The background was a redraw of the Adventure 2 box art (minus the Earth cuz I got lazy lol)

Giving her chaos spear was a fun edition too. I made her tail spike out and lay down rather than up, kinda making it look like a cape, just for fun. Giving Rosie light colors was an intentional contrast with her usual dark palette. Rosie is usually perceived as cold, blunt, and intimidating. I made her super form light and warm colored to represent who she is internally. Rosie is good, she's smart and capable, but she's softer if you get to know her. She just doesn't know how to properly display her feelings. She is a very blunt individual but she's never harsh or rude intentionally.

Here's my art summary for 2024. A very Sonic heavy year for me but also a big year for character designing. I'd say it was a pretty good art year

Hopefully I'll post more, but no promises, I've got big plans in my personal life this year. I've never been good when it comes to posting my artwork anywhere. I have trouble marketing my work and encouraging others to support it. Hopefully I'll get better at that this year!

Meet Hexx! I mentioned making Trixx a friend in her post. Well, this is him! Trixx and Hexx sound like a mischievous duo and I like to think that on-stage, they are. Like Trixx is the eager mischievous one and Hexx is the smarter more grumpy one of the duo. Off-stage though, they're both super chill. Trixx is still an eager goober and Hexx is more laid-back.

Here's the sketch I made. Not much changed between sketch and final design, just added a couple of X designs to make him match with Trixx. Also tried to add some little switches on his belt but they were covered by the jacket

I just wanted to see how these two looked standing next to each other and I'm very pleased with them. These two aren't dating btw! They're just besties. Trixx is a yapper and Hexx just listens.

This is Trixx! A scene vocaloid girl I've been working on! Remember that miku-sona post I made? Well I got attached to the idea and wanted to expand on it. What do y'all think she'd sound like? Ideas on who'd provide her voice Bank?

This was the first drawing I made for Trixx. I changed the palette to green because I realized I used this color palette a lot, plus I think green suits her better.

These were the digital sketches I made for her. I toyed with the idea of her having a skirt or tutu but ultimately I went with the shorts.

From the very beginning I designed her to fit in with the Crypton Crew but still stand out amongst them.

Trixx has been so much fun to work on and I hope y'all like her as much as I do! I will be designing a vocaloid friend for her at some point, hopefully soon!

Flora redesign

Flora had a design tweak! I added marks on her arms and legs and removed her nose to give her more resemblance to Mephiles!

The idea for the people of the Little Planet (Little Planetariens) are that they're some kind of mixtures between Mobians and the Seedrians from Sonic X. I also thought it'd be pretty neat if they were also fairies!

I also took a little inspiration from Lumina Flowlight and the various fairies from the older Barbie movies.

Flora certainly is an oddball amongst her family. If Mephiles hadn't sealed himself away within Flora, she still would have been an oddball. Flora would have been a Venus Fly-Trap based Little Planetarien (which is why she has a weird mouth and no wings)

Rosie's family

Fun design dump for Rosie's folks! More info under the cut

April has come a long way, going from my main Sonic oc to now just being a supporting character in Rosie's story. She's always been Rosie's mother though. April is a tough woman on the outside but a passionate softie deep down. April works as a bouncer for a popular club in Central City. That's where she met her wife, Persephone.

Persephone is Rosie's step mom who cares deeply about Rosie and April. She's a sensitive creative woman who works as a seamstress. She's made a lot of Rosie's clothes since she married April. Seph helped Rosie develop her style as she grew up and Rosie credits her for her sense of fashion.

They both care about Rosie deeply and try their best to understand her struggles. Rosie hardly ever opens up about her feelings because she doesn't know how to express them. She doesn't form a lot of connections and struggles with social situations. But they do their best to help her.

Vincenzo! Rosie's father and April's ex-husband. Rosie gets most of her looks from her father but that's about all she got from him. Vince is a very suave and charismatic gentleman who comes from the deceitful Ladrola family, an infamous family of thieves. Vincenzo's father, Vito, being the most infamous among the Ladrola family.

Vincenzo didn't have any intentions of settling down in his youth. That was until April became his partner in crime. April fell for Vince's charms and was always there to get him out of trouble if his schemes went awry. She was tough as nails and handled any physical aspects of their plans while Vince was cunning and planned everything meticulously.

The two got married when April realized she was pregnant, but only with a promise from Vincenzo. The promise that they'd have to end their crimes for Rosie's safety. Vince made this promise and stopped, or at least April thought he put an end to it. April made it very clear that if she found out Vincenzo was stealing again, she'd divorce him and take Rosie.

What Vince didn't expect was Rosie herself finding all of his hidden goodies. He figured the only place April wouldn't check is the floorboards in the study.

Rosie, being the little bookworm she is, was in the study very often. She eventually noticed the loose floorboards and asked April to investigate. Rosie, at 5 years old, exposed her father's secret.

April immediately divorced Vincenzo and got full custody of Rosie. She made it clear to Rosie that she could visit her father whenever she wanted, but Rosie didn't see him often, especially as she got older.

Also younger Rosie! Not much to say on her, just a awkward lil girl who's too smart. Rosie always struggled to make friends due to her intelligence and how blunt she is. She knows she's smart and doesn't say thank you when she's told that, she says "I know". Not because she's cocky, but because she IS smart.

Rosie was in advanced classes with Tails and finished all her basic schooling when she was 13. She started college courses soon after and worked on her personal research of the chaos emeralds.

Rosie and Tails instantly clicked when meeting and became best friends. Tails was the only person Rosie ever considered a friend for a very long time. There's always a spot in Rosie's home for Tails.

During Rosie's intro post, I mentioned that every Sonic character has been aged up by 10 years! Well I went ahead and designed five of them.

Most of these characters have a connection to Rosie, Shadow and Tails having the strongest bonds to her. This will officially be the 10 years later AU, or just Gurt's Sonic AU since it adds and focuses on my ocs.

Sonic was a little tricky to figure out in this AU. He's not the type of character to settle down and he wouldn't have a typical job since he's not one for authority figures. Also he's 25 now, he's got to grow up at least a little bit, especially now that the down-time between Eggman's schemes have gotten longer. He needs SOMETHING to occupy the time.

Then I thought "what if he was a professional air-boarder?" Sonic Riders was the COOLEST Sonic racing game and Sonic being an extreme sports Tony Hawk-esque guy made sense to me.

The design was easy to figure out once I decided on his profession. I brought his riders sunglasses back, the SOAP shoes from Adventure 2 and gave him a cool racing jacket with new gloves.

Sonic doesn't have a strong bond with Rosie but he does know her since Tails was friends with her growing up.

Tails was easy to age up, all I did was give him a ponytail, some accessories, new shoes, and some brown fur on his limbs and ears.

Tails is an Engineer in the AU! He already makes gadgets and trinkets, why not make a career out of it? He actually made Rosie's boots!

Tails and Rosie have a very close bond, the two had accelerated courses in school together due to their high intelligence. They visit each other frequently and Tails feels like a part of her family.

Rouge was pretty fun to design for this AU! I took elements from the elite agent outfit in Sonic Forces speed battle, Rouge's outfit in Heroes, and her regular look as well. I gave her bangs too but I like to think she messes with her hair often.

I don't have many notes on Rouge, She's still a G.U.N. Agent but also she's married to Knuckles! This is the only ship I'm canonizing in my AU for now. I might add more ships later on, we'll have to see.

Rouge works with Rosie pretty frequently and tries to get her to come out of her shell. She thinks that Rosie is pretty and could use that well, but Rosie is hopeless when it comes to using charisma. Rouge still likes her though and tries to teach her.

I did not NEED to design Cream but I really wanted to! She ended up being my favorite design here. I didn't really have a major direction to go in for Cream's design since she's still a teen without any job. I took inspiration from different Cream designs I seen online and just merged some concepts I liked. The only big change is making her tall, I thought it'd be cute if I based her on a Flemish Giant rabbit! I wanted an excuse to make her taller than Tails for comedic purposes.

Cream is still the polite sweetie she was as a kid but now she does work with Chao! She volunteers and donates to local Chao gardens and trains Cheese and Chocola for races. Cheese evolved into a hero Chao! Being with Cream throughout the years and going on some adventures helped him evolve. Chocola is neutral fly type Chao! It's one of my favorite Chao evolutions and I wanted Chocola to be more different from Cheese.

Cream and Rosie don't have much of a connection but I'd say they get along well enough. They're both friends with Tails so I'd say they all hang out sometimes.

And finally we reach Shadow! Shadow was easy to design as well. I just gave him a cool jacket. I don't think Shadow would visibly age much since he's the ultimate life form.

He's still a G.U.N. Agent and an incredibly important person to Rosie. Rosie idolized him as a kid and wanted to be like him. Shadow took on a mentorship role to Rosie, seeing great potential in her. He would personally teach Rosie the various ways that chaos control is used and would also teach her chaos spear. He does care about her even if he's tough on her at times.
