a fun addendum: the ace of spades is said to symbolize significant change or transformation, and sometimes also referred to as the death card. here it's meant to reflect the way both henry and william have changed over time (and for william in particular, how his old self has essentially died), and yet they're still mirroring eachother in the way they're sitting, in the vices they've taken up, etc.

as for the doodles on the sides of the card: the rabbit chases the bear, the bear chases the rabbit. in the end, neither ends up catching the other.

also i finished this drawing way before i got done with the fic and ive just been sitting on it for like 2-3 months. LOL
