you’re the nicest person i’ll ever meet, probably. with an undying passion to protect those who can’t protect themselves, you’re energetic and bubbly to a fault. it’s cute, watching you run around trying to tie up loose ends. i feel bad for you — out of everyone you know, you probably have some of the deepest trauma, more than anyone’s aware of. this isn’t something that you want attention for at all, and you’d really just rather forget it exists at all… even then, it seems like you can never escape it. i wish you a pleasant rest of your life, full of rippling sunsets and free of prying eyes.

“Hmm… Let me think.” There’s a playful pause as Elena looks him over, a warm smile soon following before she speaks up. It was no secret that Stiles was one of her most trusted people in her life. And it felt like they were getting closer and closer as of late.

“Lunch and good company? I’m in. Where did you have in mind?”

Elena knew that feeling all too well. When emotions felt too high, as if the weight of them would leave a person drowning. As if they were sharp enough to tear you apart. Her expression softened, a gentle understanding there as she reached out just enough to place a hand on Caroline’s shoulder before speaking.

“I know it might not feel like it right now, but feeling? That’s one of your superpowers, Care. Some people let their feelings destroy them, guide them to do bad things. But you? You don’t let that take you over. I don’t think any of those things you’ve just said is true.” She started, taking a gentle breath before speaking.

“Your words have saved me before. So have your feelings. If we didn’t have someone who cared enough to keep us all in line and safe then where would we be? I think you are doing the perfect amount of everything. Don’t let those thoughts win. And when things get too heavy, I’ll help you carry it.”

“So… hypothetically speaking, how would you treat a gash that hasn’t stopped bleeding for a good hour or so…?”

Elena’s first hunt after becoming a hunter was honestly a disaster. Having to attack anything supernatural was an initial challenge, especially people used as vessels for a demon because she didn’t want to hurt the person being possessed. Werewolves and vampires weren’t much better in her mind because those infected couldn’t control themselves.

It took a lot of work and dissociation to be able to do it properly. She only learned about hunting when she learned more of her family heritage, eventually crossing paths with Sam and Dean when they came to town. She was drawn into the world of hunting, wanting to learn more. She only learned basics while Sam and Dean were in town, later having to travel and learn more on her own. She mainly stays in Mystic Falls but does travel when need be.
