“Call for John Deacon,” the bartender says, nodding towards the telephone behind the bar.
John’s quick to navigate his way back there, cradling the phone close to his ear. “Hello?”
“Hi, John.” A smile creeps across his features at the sound of your voice. “Turns out, I’m not very good at expressing my feelings when I’m not on the hotline, so I’m on a pink phone, calling to tell you that I’ve been in love with you since before you moved in.”
It felt impossible to smile more before that, but he does, eyes crinkling at the words he’s been dying to hear practically since you were children. “The hotline, you say?” He hums, toying with the chord. “Well then… what are you wearing right now?”
And the bartender looks mildly disgusted, as do the patrons closest, but all he cares about is your bright laugh sounding over the line. “Shut up, John. Come back home.”
Till There Was You would be an absolutely fluffy John fic with a lot of mutual pining. Reader would be a bartender who works a venue where they play early in their career who’s about ready to quit her job until she meets John (hesitant about making a career out of music still), who falls head over heels for her the moment he lays eyes on her. Both of them are a comfort to each other, and it would conclude in a sappy admission of love on her part, which he would eagerly reciprocate.
(I’M SORRY, I DON’T KNOW WHO MADE THESE, THEY WERE JUST CHILLIN’ IN MY LIBRARY. Please don’t hate me. If you know the creators, please tell me so I can give them credit.)
Freddie Mercury & Michael Jackson – State of Shock (Original Demo)
Recorded circa 1981-83
“State of Shock” is a 1984 single by the Jacksons featuring frontman Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger. The song was originally recorded with Freddie Mercury, as Jackson and Mercury had been working on several tracks at that time (1981–83), e.g. the unreleased title track “Victory” for the eponymous album and “There Must Be More to Life Than This” from Mr. Bad Guy. In 2002, a demo of Mercury and Jackson singing “State of Shock” was leaked online.
One of the lads was over at my London flat the other day, and I Instagrammed a picture of him and said, “Look at this cutie,” and a million outlets reported that I was coming out as gay. I’m not gay, but two of my mates came out when I was 15 and it was a joy to support them because, as a group, we are all secure enough in who we are. I’m certainly not going to stop calling my mates cuties and gorgeous, because they are cuties and they are gorgeous.
I’m not someone who’s remotely perturbed by male intimacy.
