Writing a melody that gives the listener a sense of harmony without it having to be there is something I've been working my whole life on. The work never stops and thankfully, the melodies keep coming. A little look inside a typical practice session when I come across something that needs work like this four note minor scale fragment. I'm playing it at a slow/medium tempo in both groupings of four eighth notes and then triplets in groupings of four. I'm releasing the full video with tutorial on video bass lessons this week. Maintenance session for basic technique. Medium tempo, no amp, late night in the hotel. A reality of traveling and still making time to practice and maintain a high standard of execution with the instrument. I used to get very hung up on practicing without the amp thinking it would affect my tone production in a negative way. But it's actually been a huge help to my process. (at Stuttgart, Germany)
