Call for Proposals: Storefront Art Program in Glendale (Greater Los Angeles)
The Library and the ACC have designed a program to support public art and to further beautify the City of Glendale through art installations in vacant storefronts. The vision of Glendale's Storefront Art Program is to create professional quality art installations celebrating the surrounding community, thereby increasing the interest of a passersby, enriching Glendale's cultural environment, and creating a strong community identity. The program goal is to expand storefront art installations throughout the City in partnership with property owners, realtors, and developers.
Artwork that is 3-dimensional, contains audio visual elements, and/or can be viewed after sunset is preferred.
Selected artists will be scheduled for an interview to discuss the proposed location for installation. Site visits will be scheduled with selected artists and City Staff to determine the appropriateness of the proposed installation within the vacant unit.
The ACC will provide an artist stipend of $1,000 in addition to a production stipend of up to $1,500 for a total maximum stipend of $2,500 per participating artist. The installations may be exhibited for a minimum of 6 weeks.

Call for Art: City of Santa Clarita Arts and Events is looking for surrealism (Greater Los Angeles)
The City of Santa Clarita is seeking artwork for consideration for an upcoming exhibit at First Floor Gallery. For this art exhibition Santa Clarita Arts is seeking surrealist inspired artwork! Surrealism by definition means, “a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind, for example by the irrational juxtaposition of images.” Famous artists, for example include Salvador Dali, René Magritte, Frida Kahlo, Andre Breton, Man Ray, and others. Applicants may submit artwork in the medium of their choosing as long as it is able to be mounted to a wall. This includes but is not limited to paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, and textiles. The City of Santa Clarita utilizes a special wiring system that requires all artworks to be WIRED in order to safely hang. Sculptural pieces will be accepted for consideration.
 Mailed artwork will NOT be accepted. Artwork must be physically dropped off on the agreed upon date. This call is open to LA County, surrounding areas, and those willing to drop off.
Artwork exceeding 25 pounds in weight will not be accepted. This project is open to all artists, regardless of race, color, religion, natural origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disabilities. Artist teams are eligible to apply, including teams of artists from multiple disciplines.

PROJECT BACKGROUND The City of Durham's Cultural and Public Art Program commissions a variety of public artworks in collaboration with City departments and other organizations engaged in capital development projects across Durham, North Carolina. The City of Durham's Cultural and Public Art Program defines public art as original visual art including, but not limited to, sculptures, murals, photographic renderings, mosaics, and electronic art installations. Project locations may include but are not limited to the City's parks, sidewalks, interior and exterior walls, vehicles, bus stops, and spaces that are visible from public streets and pedestrian walkways. Public art is traditionally free of admission fees, and administered through a public process that provides opportunities for the community to provide input. The City of Durham's Pre-Qualified Artist Registry will be used to select artists when a project's requirements render it suitable. Selection will be based on the appropriateness of the artist's medium and experience relevant to specific project requirements. The City continuously seeks greater diversity and urges artists and artist teams of all backgrounds and any medium to become part of the pre-qualified registry. In 2011, the Durham City Council passed an ordinance designating up to one percent of all capital improvement project budgets for the creation of public art. The City then developed the Cultural and Public Arts Program to coordinate and fund public art projects across Durham.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS Application materials must be received via the submission portal on https://callforentry.com. Items required shall include the following: Artist Statement: Briefly describe your experience, your discipline(s), and your qualifications for completing artworks. Artist teams should explain their interest and qualifications collectively. Images: Submission should include visual representations of past artwork that demonstrate your qualifications for this project. Applicants must upload at least five (5) high-resolution images from at least three (3) different projects. Each project image should have an accompanying summary of the title, location, cost, materials/medium, and timeline associated with the piece. Videos will count as one of the five (5) images, and should be submitted as a hyperlink within the PDF. Artist teams’ images should include examples from each team member. Resume: Resumes for each artist/artist team member should include any public or private commissioning experience, and community engagement experience, if applicable. References: Each artist should provide three (3) professional references or recommendation letters with contact information for each references. Community references will be accepted.
