Campanella

I’ve been a Kenshi Yonezu fan for years now- a happy memory of mine is singing Lemon at a Japanese Club karaoke contest and winning a plushie! So it’s only natural that I was interested in his new song, Campanella, and it turned out to be worth analyzing. This post will involve interesting pieces like nonstandard kanji, flower language, and a 1934 fantasy book! I’ll start with my full translation, then add my notes and interpretation of the song after.

New Album: STRAY SHEEP

Release date: Wednesday, August 5, 2020

There will be a total of 15 songs on Kenshi Yonezu’s new 5th album, STRAY SHEEP, including Lemon, Flamingo, TEENAGE RIOT, Uma to Shika (Horse and Deer), Umi no Yuurei (Ghost of the Sea), Paprika self-cover, and Kanden (electric shock). Kanden is a new, currently unreleased song that was written to be the theme song for a new Japanese TBS drama, “MIU404″. 

Omamori board edition: CD + box + key chain (¥4,500 + tax) Art book edition : CD + Blu-ray + 96-page art book( ¥6,800 + tax) Art book edition: CD + DVD + 96-page art book (¥6,800 + tax) Normal edition: CD only (¥3,000 + tax)
