can you give us an idea of what characters to expect?

We are currently rolling out skeletons on our main, which has a ton of information on how characters live and work (and eat and pray and love etc.)

Long answer? You can expect archetypes from all walks of life ! There will be power-hungry upstarts, trained political animals, artists eager for immortal fame, heist crews & former thieves caught red-handed, math prodigies rigging gambling tables, child stars grown under public scrutiny, scientists no one really listens to, bored scions, bodyguards hiding their knives & bidding their time.... and people just trying to keep their head above the water.

To give you a time frame, the skeletons coming up tonight are Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Charon & Artemis !

A  dark,  interactive  rpg,  REUS  combines  classical  myth  with  cyberpunk  &  political  elements.  The  narrative  focuses  on  the  inescapable  nature  of  self - made  Gods.  The  plot  begins  in  Olympe,  where  Zeus  invites  his  brothers  for  a  reunion.  But  history  prowls  the  shadows ,  as  all  abandoned  things  do.  There  are  rumours  around  the  family’s  rise  to  power  -  and  what  they  did  all  those  years  ago.  Someone  among  them  is  either  traitor  or  confessor.  In  their  world,   it   makes  no  difference.  Nobody  understands  that  better  than  the  sons  of  Cronus:  once  heirs,  now  kings.  Once  patricides,  now  tyrants.

We’re certainly open to the possibility !  And totally flattered you want to invest in this. We’d prefer to wait until the main launches, so we can be sure anyone interested in a moderating role knows what they’re getting into - the full plot, game mechanics &  so on. The launch is happening this week, so there’s not much to do until then - but we would love some help as the story progresses. After the blog is out, message us off-anon to discuss it !

is there anything you can tell/tease about the app? how many sections, if there’s a word count limit, just something small! i’m… extremely excited so every detail just makes me more excited

Of course ! We are so happy to hear you’re looking forward to this - and I guarantee you the wait is almost over, with the final details just sliding into place. ( Were our collective New Year’s plans essentially skeleton writing ? Maybe so ). 

For the application, we want to encourage creative freedom above all. There will be a maximum word limit around 2k for the IC section. We don’t require a biography or a writing sample - you can tell us who the character is on your own terms. If that happens to be the usual biography format, great ! If it’s more along the lines of narrative writing, where you give us snippets from the muse’s life & inner headspace, that’s also brilliant ! Whatever makes you stress less on the ‘form’ and have more fun coming up with the content.

Beyond that, we also ask applicants to summarize what future plotlines they have in mind for their role. We think having a game plan from the start makes roleplaying so much more oriented and engaging, and it really facilitates both plotting & integration !

Faceclaims will be negotiable ! We love to see what you come up with beside the suggested. A few roles will require checking in with an admin off-anon to make sure age ranges are realistic & ethnicity respected in the same family, should you want to change fc’s.

There will be 30 skeletons in total at the start ! We do reserve the right to add additional roles after the first acceptance round and as the plot progresses.

Where is this set?

There will be several locations rotated in-game, all of them situated on a fictional continent called Gaia ! Essentially an alternate universe, their world mirrors ours to some extent, but with a futuristic touch. Technology is more advanced and wide-spread through the population, and environmental conditions shaped societies in different ways. As an example, Poseidon uses a giant cruise ship to navigate the chain of islands his business relies on. For some aesthetics, think of Hadestown’s underground set, Altered Carbon, the Bioshock game franchise ( it’s truly giving Andrew Ryan ) & other cyberpunk settings.

Does all "human" technology exist in this version?

Anon, I love the implication that beside human technology, there is also the existence of a greek deity cryptid technology. On that note, yep ! Characters will have access to telephones, computers, mass media, all the works. In fact, the entire livelihood of one side of the family will depend on tech and entertainment. We recommend not to get super detailed about brand names, as I feel that can sort of take away from the fictional vibe, but common vernacular words like ‘snapped’ and ‘tweeted’ something are totally acceptable.
