NEW VIDEO for Will Sprott’s “Strange. Lines” directed by Andrew Pejack.

From Will Sprott:

The first single off of Natural Internet is a song called “Strange Lines” I wrote about my friend Andrew Pejack who is no longer on the planet earth. It’s about connecting with people you love outside of space & time. 

For the video I repurposed old super 8 stop motion movies & short films Andrew made with his brothers & friends when he was young in the ‘70s & ‘80s. After he died I discovered a deep trove of amazing films he made & I frequently returned to them when I was thinking about him & wanted to hang out for a bit.

This song is me on acoustic guitar & clavichord, Kristian Garrard on drums, Luke Bergman on bass, & Shana Cleveland ripping away on electric guitar. Recorded & mixed by Johnny Goss & mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk

I’ve always had a terrible irrational fear of microwaves. Years ago I lived in a house in San Jose with a lot of good friends & we had a gigantic terrifying 1980s microwave that actually had a crack in the door. I just knew that thing was oozing toxic radiation all over the place and any time anyone used it I was long gone. My roommates thought it was funny. For me it was a real paralyzing dread any time anyone went near it. One day I was sitting in my room minding my own business when I heard a huge crash of glass breaking & metal bending, then I heard someone yell, “You fucking with Willy? That’s what you get for fucking with Willy!” Very confused, I went over to the window & looked down into the back yard & my friend Gerry was there with my other friend Warren & they were beating the shit out of the microwave with a 2x4. Overwhelmed with happiness, I watched them for a minute then I went down & took a few whacks at that demon myself. They could have just thrown it in the trash like most people would do, but somehow Gerry found a way to turn such a mundane task into a cathartic moment of joy. For the years I lived with him & the decades I’ve known him, pretty much every moment I spent with him has been like that. He’s one of the most selfless, generous, fun, inspiring people I’ve been lucky enough to know. A few days ago I was heartbroken to hear he fell off his skateboard & suffered a traumatic brain injury. He’s currently in the hospital fighting for his life. From what I hear, he underwent surgery & is making positive steps but he has a very long road to recovery. Every day I’ve had tears streaming down my face when I think about this friend of mine. Please take a moment to click the link here & read more about his situation. If you have the means please consider donating some money towards his recovery fund. At the very least please take a few moments to wish him well. He is the type of person who would do anything for his friends, even kick the crap out of a haunted microwave. He’s equally the kind of person who would help a stranger anyway he could in a heartbeat. Thanks for taking the time.
