“Of course I go to get my stomach medicine, but...he’s someone important to me too, that’s for sure. He gave me attention when Hiyoko was...nevermind. You wouldn’t want to hear about why, since this is about me. That’s all, though...I think. I just don’t think anything else is anyone’s business. Dr. Iwamine is...very important to me, and I enjoy my time with him.”

Which traditional Japanese aesthetic concept speaks to your soul?

物の哀れ

mono no aware, literally ‘the pathos of things’, refers to the awareness of impermanence and a poignant feeling of transience in the passing of lives and objects, expressed in Japanese art for example by falling blossoms, the changes of the moon and the passing of the seasons. mono no aware is felt by the ‘heart-mind’ (the Japanese word ‘kokoro’ means both heart and mind) as it experiences something singular. The overall impact of this aesthetic principle is to recognize the impermanence of everything that exists and to create a deeper connection with it because of its fleeting nature, appreciating the bittersweet beauty of change in itself.

The simple statement of love still makes his heart melt, and Suzaku rests his chin upon his wife’s head in response, humming softly. Sometimes it still felt so surreal that they were at this point now, living together outside the busy cities and about to bring a child into their home, and the him of a decade ago wouldn’t have thought it possible. And it was only a little under a year before that Lelouch finally came to him to stay, the both of them knowing that they needed each other even though their shared past still hurt. There were still plenty of days that the ravenette secluded himself in their room, and he came to understand when he needed space. There were still many things between them that had to be mended bit by bit, and Suzaku hopes they had enough time for all of that. He sometimes wondered if Lelouch was willing to share immortality with him, despite all the times he’d wished for Suzaku to live and be happy without him. He was getting lost in thoughts again, and thank god Lelouch is still here to bring him back to reality by cupping his cheeks. He made a small noise of surprise, his lover’s thin hands cold as they’d always been (they always were even long before he’d died), but good for taking him out of spiraling thoughts. Suzaku looks down to see tired violet eyes staring back up at him, and he can’t help giving Lelouch a small smile. “...Of course, any time.” His free hand cups one of Lelouch’s cheeks back, thumbing the pale, subtly freckled skin. It was just the way he worded it, but how he requested him to make dinner with him felt so utterly intimate in this moment.

“You aren’t at all, darling.” As Lelouch leans up against him, he takes the opportunity to pepper his face in kisses, his hands otherwise occupied with massaging his wife’s swollen feet. Especially his ankles and the balls of his feet, where it seemed to be the worst. But that was mainly because he insisted on being as active as he could until the pregnancy progressed far enough for that. Suzaku had told him he didn’t mind helping him more around the house, especially because it didn’t seem to be the pregnancy alone that made him more easily exhaustible these days.

He was just in the moment right now, enjoying having Lelouch lay on his lap as he tended to him, just the two of them together-soon to be three. He took Suzaku out of the moment with bringing up dinner, though. “Huh…has it actually been that long?” And he’s pretty sure Lelouch was right-he hadn’t had the luxury of a fine bowl of udon since he entered the Britannian military, because why serve anything Japanese at all? Much less, something that didn’t do more than provide a requisite amount of calories. “Well, I’ll help you out with it anyway. There’s a recipe for it I remember…”

“i love you.” he whispers as he relaxes against his husband, the tendons and nerves feeling wonderful from the massage his beloved was giving him. being in his lap with strong arms around him. it was something that he had missed - no, wanted - when they were children. surely he did want to have suzaku originally as nunnally’s knight but in truth he just wanted suzaku to be his. anything to keep his childhood crush close to him under the pretense of good will as being selfish was hard enough as it is. so he stretches his toes and let out a pleased groan because of all the trauma and stress on his body. though he’s immortal compared to his older looking lover it didn’t matter. he’ll eventually ask suzaku to join immortality with him since he’s sure they’ve both atoned enough.

he reaches up with his slender and pale hands to cup at those tanned cheeks, admiring him with adoring amethyst eyes. to be himself after so many years was a foreign feeling to lelouch. was suzaku always this tall compared to him where he happened to be slightly shorter and petit in frame? the japanese man’s cheeks were warm like the sunflowers of their short yet shared summer in which his heart aches. on instinct he does lean back into him as if flushing their bodies as if they’d melt into one.

Ryouta was...a rather unusual bird, even among the unique individuals of class 2-2. When their contribution for the school festival was a maid café, there was only one individual that had joined the team for that with gusto: the very same rock dove. With taking care of his mother’s delicate condition, Ryouta had took upon some odd jobs, including but not limited to an actual maid café that he worked in every other week. He became no stranger to crossdressing, which was helped by his slender and slightly androgynous form. However, very few birds came to his classroom, seemingly expecting some female maids from the few that turned down their service here. Ryouta wasn’t all that miffed about it-he just liked feeling like he was contributing in his own way. He could hear footsteps approaching the room, and twirled around to face the open door, curtseying eagerly to their guest. “Good afternoon, master!~” He’d plenty of practice greeting customers at the maid café, but then at the sound of their voice, Ryouta realized just who decided to stop by.

“D-Doctor! I didn’t think you’d stop by here of all places...!” Yes, he was more surprised by Dr. Iwamine coming to the maid café than being seen in this outfit.

The day had been quite long as usual, but thankfully the doctor was able to dispose of what he needed to. The school was having a festival - and it wasn’t the sports one so the doctor didn’t need to work at it during the event. Sakazaki was busy with his class so it seemed like Shuu was to take care of it himself. Coming back inside the school’s building did he pass by the 2-2 classroom, finding the door wide open and….

‘ Mister Kawara, just what are you wearing? ‘ He stopped, staring at the young rock dove who seemed to be dressed in a feminine maid dress. He was standing outside of his classroom greeting anyone who came into their maid cafe - however, Shuu didn’t even bother to look inside and realize that, Dull lavender hues would just stare at the boy, wondering if he should even bother getting an answer, or if he should just return to the infirmary.
