So when I went to do some research for the verse.... i was blindsided by the alien stuff. I do still have a general idea for a verse, but it's been taking me a while to formulate it properly. Because I like to try to process the canon of a series before I feel comfortable picking it apart for what I want from it. I know for sure I'm not going to do anything with the tailed beasts though. MAYBE making this version of Toga (Inu's dad) an ancient creature native to the planet infused with chakra though.

///hello, a little update; i've been a bit stressed lately because the bathroom floor caved in so the whole bathroom is being redone. =) I'm gonna try to get some of my drafts here down tonight and then roll on over to @halfghcst to fix up his pinned post and stuff. I'm gonna try to not burn myself out on my muses by alternating between at least two of them at a time between video game time and work.

///fun fact about the mun, years ago I was actually going to write Sesshomaru. But while rewatching the anime for him, found I appreciated Inuyasha more than I had as a kid so I ended up writing him instead.

///I mentioned it somewhere on my about, and I'll probably rewrite it so it's more clear in a bit. But my canon is manga and anime mixed. However, though I love the animation/art for the anime I lean more into the plot, pacing, and characterization of the manga. The biggest things for me from the manga vs the anime, is that the manga wasn't so all over the place and frustrating about the way Inuyasha and Kagome felt about each other. Inuyasha as a result didn't feel writing wise so dumbed down or as mean? Not sure how else to describe it.

But He was very clear that while he couldn't forget about Kikyo because of their history and his guilt, he would always choose Kagome between the two. That he wanted to be with her. And this was stated so early on compared to the anime that it actually made me a little upset when I just started reading the manga. Inuyasha has very complex feelings regarding Kikyo and they can mostly be attributed to survivor's guilt. He did absolutely have feelings for her, she was the first person to acknowledge him as a person since the death of his mother. The first person willing to get close to him.

So I believe those feelings are real too, but-- and he thinks this much himself -- Kagome had more time with him and didn't ask him to change for her, outside of being a little more friendly. She is the one that taught Inuyasha that it was okay to make friends and lean on others for support. That he didn't have to be alone. Kikyo would have absolutely wanted to be that for him, but she didn't get the chance. Her wish to love Inuyasha, Kagome is that wish being granted.

This quickly became why I love InuKag, but the way the two interact in the anime vs the manga does change peoples perception of Inuyasha himself. The anime changed a very heartfelt scene where he was explaining his feelings to her, to the infamous "Why can't I have both?" scene when confronted about Kikyo vs Kagome. One of those makes Inuyasha a lot less complex as a result.

To be honest, he was more upset at himself blaming himself for letting her get hurt during the fight. But he wouldn't ever admit to feeling that way. With a small annoyed huff, he sat back in his usual sitting position across from her. " Just rest yer arm up properly and you'll be shooting arrows again in no time. "

Kagome sighed softly, It wasn't even worth the energy arguing with him anymore, so instead she leaned into her palm, elbow propped on her leg as he finished on her arm. ' I guess one thing you said is right, I would've acted the same way, and with my arm injured I can't really lift my bow at the moment so I am pretty much useless for fighting.'

As annoyed as he was at his current situation, he couldn't deny that most spirits he'd had contact with didn't look much different from the living. Usually it was the floating around and the scent that gave them away for Inuyasha.

Despite his appearance, most people just stared at or whispered about him. It wasn't often that he was approached by a stranger and talked to directly. He had half a mind to just ignore the guy and get back onto the fading scent of one of the very few important people in the city.

That is, until he heard 'demon' mentioned. Other than Kagome's grandpa, it wasn't a word people in this era tended to throw around casually, as Inuyasha discovered the longer he settled in here.

'Cosplayer' was one he heard often by those who whispered to one another around him. But he still wasn't sure what that one meant. And what did he mean by 'furry'? Was he making fun of his ears? They were the only furry things on the half demon, so that was his best guess.

" I ain't gotta clue what you mean about the other two things, but I'm surprised you know what a demon is. I haven't seen a lot of 'em around since I've been here. "

This was enough to distract Inuyasha from his previous goal, it seemed.

" Are you some kinda monk 'er somethin'? "

❝ well... no... but then again, most spirits in spirit world don't look dead either. ❞ his brows furrow, his eyes narrow, and his continues to dial in on the little peculiarities of the other's appearance. kurama soemtimes had ears like those when he became yoko, so a demon wasn't too far a stretch. ❝ if you're not dead then you're either a demon or one of those... what's it... cosplayer ? furry ? are you one of them ? ❞

Honestly, Inuyasha never knew how to interact with the older demon. It wasn't like he particularly cared enough to even check in on him when he was younger. Nearly all of their interactions up until recently had always either been hostile at worst and tense at best.

What exactly could his elder brother want from him this time? The hanyou would never rule out a fight from the possibilities, however he felt it wasn't very likely.

" Sesshomaru....? " There was no hostility in his voice, only curiosity. " What brings you out here? Rin is hanging out with Kagome on the other side of the village, if you're looking for her. "
