“Handsome Jack... killed my family.” Hallie’s eyes are so much darker than the typical sparkly ones, and she spoke bitterly. It was close enough to the truth, they might as well be dead to her. “That’s why I came to Pandora. I want to learn from the vault hunters, so that I could be like them... So I could kill him myself. But vault hunters are hard to find, and they killed him before I even could have a chance... I’m glad he’s dead, I just wish I could’ve been there...” Her kind demeanor had melted away and she opened up her true feelings briefly before closing off again.

“Sorry, it’s uh, an open wound, I guess... I was pretty close to my brother before I... lost him.” She pauses awkwardly, unsure of what else to say. “...What were we talking about? Oh right, you’re a gunslinger! I taught myself how to use a gun, but after so many bandits it becomes second nature, doesn’t it? I’m still trying to learn how to fight properly. It’s hard when you’re living on your own, I haven’t had any luck finding any teachers.”

Hallie perks her head up and focuses all of her attention on the woman. “Sorry, I’m talking too much about myself. Not to put you on the spot, but you said you weren’t originally from Pandora, or did I mishear?”

“Of course. I’ve roughed out there plenty enough to understand.”

Hallie has had plenty of experience with fake names, enough to know that ‘Raven Kay’ was definitely not the woman’s real one. But she didn’t show any signs, instead she nods with a small, polite grin. “Raven. Pretty, like you.”

“A gunslinger? Ooh, maybe you could teach me a few things!” Unlikely to her, she was just playing polite and ignorant as always, but she had no idea the cowgirl before her could actually show her so much more than her parents and teachers had. “I can relate to that, I’m not exactly native to Pandora myself.” Realizing she may be giving too much about herself away, she quickly stopped talking about herself. It almost became a game of lying to each other.

“To be honest, it really isn’t, but I could adapt for however long you need. It wouldn’t be any trouble, before I found this place I was in the alleys, or worse, out in those damn wastelands with nothing over my head. As much as living in a cave kind of sucks, at least you’re mostly protected from the elements. And those Hyperion trash rarely ever come out here.”

Hallie freezes for a second before she reaches out frantically for the man in front of her, trying to grab onto any part of him. “If you break my leg, I’ll break your fucking neck, Jay!” She was beginning to look like one of those skags she adored so much

She glares at him before her lips stretch into a smirk. “You know, if you just let me use your fucking shower I probably could’ve been out of your hair by now.
