"Reverse Engineering"

"...Okay, let's try again." Lila said, finishing something in the half-opened mechanisms of Horus.

Hannah pressed a button on the paddle and muttered out a command before looking up at where the drone started projecting an illusion. It started out shaky, but stabilized after Lila gave the machine a light nudge, and formed into...

"What is that?"

All three of them stared at the shape. Hannah squinted her eyes while Lila searched around the room.

"I think that's-- Uh, this vase?" She said, pointing to the ceramic nearby. Both Hilal and Hannah looked at it, then back at the mess of polygons. "The color fits..."

Hannah groaned, turning off the illusion with another press of a button.

"Well, um... I think the mechanical part is almost working?" The mechanix added. "I'll have to stabilize it, but it shouldn't be an issue. It seems more like a programming problem now..."

"Are you sure you don't remember anything more, Hannah?" Hilal asked.

"I already told you, I don’t!" She exclaimed before resting her forehead down on her hand. "I can’t recall anything else. He was the one taking care of it, not me!"

All three of them stayed silent for a moment. Lila hesitated before deciding to check something in Horus while Hilal stayed as put together as always, only looking somewhere to the side.

Then, the younger girl yawned.

“...It’s getting too late for us to continue.” Hilal stated as Lila rubbed her eyes. “We should stop here for now."

Hannah only hummed dejectedly in response, straightening back up.

“You okay in there, Kami?” She asked, gently knocking on Horus. The genie flew out of it with a mumble, also somewhat exhausted despite his usual energy. “Alright, alright, I get it. Come here.” She said, reaching out the hand with her hologlove, letting Kami jump into it right away. She then stood up, once again looking at the drone. 

“...Sorry I’m not of much help.” She finally spoke up, not looking at either of her teammates.

“Don’t worry, we’ll figure it out…” Lila replied, holding back another yawn. “There’s always tomorrow." “...Yeah, you’re right. G’night, then.”

The other two replied in unison as they each left to their rooms. Hannah followed after them, passing by a table with some of the old blueprints of Fatamorgana.

sometimes it’s important to like a female character for her potential when not in the hands of a misogynistic writer and at the same time hate a guy just for being blonde

She would not fucking say that. Yes she said that in canon, but I perceive a greater truth unaffected by her writer's misogyny

sors for being The Hater again but oh my god i can't get how much they fucked up Antaboga out of my mind. Some of my critisism might be rich coming from someone who hasn't finished writing any story so far sure but the basic rules of introducing and building up the villain before the final showdown are so ELEMENTAL it's not a hot take to say they messed up.

And THEY KNOW THIS! THEY KNOW HOW TO WRITE A GOOD VILLAIN! THEY DID IT IN SEASON 1 WITH GAVINDA! They built her up as a villain beautifully! She gets introduced in one ep, she has a whole different episode where she plays a huge role and we get to see her in-person, and THEN she also gets mentioned on numerous ocassions, keeping her in our minds even when she's not around! And at some OTHER points they don't even need to mention her by name because Teach Tech = Gavinda, so eg. when we learn that they've been sending Flora their tech to convince her to use it we know that's a decision Gavinda signed off on, too! It's great! It builds suspense for how the final confrontation will happen! When we see her in the finale it feels rewarding and RIGHT! That's how you do it!

What you DON'T do is you don't introduce your main villain in ONE EP and then NOT MENTION THEM AT ALL until the VERY FINALE! IF SOMEONE MISSED ONE(1) EPISODE (which happens frequently with episodic shows you watch on TV) THEY WOULDN'T HAVE ANY IDEA WHO HE EVEN IS! This season has so many problems so I can't say I'm surprised but I can say that I'm baffled. How do you do shit like this how did it get approved

on one hand im rrly happy that hannah got confirmed as sapphic and that she got a girlfriend and all but on another hand it feels odd that they just gave her a background character for a partner.

I've said it before but I think if we were to see Maelstrom ourselves, I would really like it to be kind of messed up. Obviously, within the show's limits, but still. Mostly because of how it's based on Victorian era England and is a literal dome underwater, which eg. makes it impossible to expand the city... I think it could have, for just one example, an issue with overpopulation (which is something the victorian era had iirc). Generally until proven wrong I'd imagine it being a kinda broken place to live in, full of people who turn a blind eye to everything that's wrong, denying it in favor of considering themselves better than everyone else (like eg. Lavinia).

At the same time it seems like it might still be the place to be for various forms of art in Terraqua or something, I don't remember if that was actually mentioned or if it's an assumption I've grown attached to? The lines got blurred and I don't have the time to check...

& I see!! I def get what you mean with Manta, he does seem like he could have a tendency to explore in that way. Good thing he survived Polaris and didn't like...freeze or get killed. Some kids just have the best luck out there

As for the cover on Corto's shirt, I mainly just wanted to draw Corto in a band's shirt, and I remembered Green Day (because I listen to them, but sporadically) and I came to the conclusion that this band actually fits it and I just like the cover of this album 😭

As for the context of the drawing with Manta, I think Manta could be the type of child who likes to go to strange places and either gets dirty or ends up maimed. Because of that, it would be hard for his parents to find him and when he finally comes back, he would get a big scolding. Although when I was drawing it, I wasn't thinking about the bigger context. It appeared at the end.
