I think it's a shame that "Oedipus complex" refers to fucking your mom instead of the actual point of his story, fulfilling your destiny through your attempts to avoid it. It just so happens his destiny was to fuck his mom

Its frustrating when non-horror people come into horror spaces and ask why we like violence and watching people suffer and sexism and all other manner of moral hand-wringing, but i also find it frustrating when horror fans (myself included) attempt to sincerely engage with these questions. Like 9 times out of 10 the question is either being asked in bad faith, or the asker is genuinely confused, and neither of those types of people are prepared for a proper answer about how horror reflects the cultural landscape or the complex relationships between the genre and gender and race etc and they definitely aren't ready to hear about the real facet of sexuality and eroticism in basically all horror media
horror is an easy target for pearl clutching but you can subject pretty much any genre to the same criticism if you frame it poorly enough. Oh you like romance movies? So you enjoy watching men stalk women and violate their boundaries? You think cheating is okay? You think its cool when women give up their careers to get married? I dont like or watch romance movies but based off my limited understanding thats what they're all like, etc
i think we need to just start responding to bad faith questions about horror with "yeah i thought it was awesome when The Killer fed all those teenagers into a wood chipper"

Pit ponies, also known as mining horses, were small breeds of horses or ponies used in underground coal mines to haul carts filled with coal or other materials. Their use spanned from the 18th century into the mid-20th century, particularly in countries with extensive coal mining operations like the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and parts of Europe. These animals were meant to live in fields and roam freely – but instead, they spent their lives underground, pulling heavy carts, breathing in coal dust, and rarely seeing daylight.
The first known recorded use of ponies underground in Great Britain was in the Durham coalfield in 1750. Following the drowning deaths of 26 children when the Huskar Colliery in Silkstone flooded on July 4, 1838, A report was published in The Times, and the wider British public learned for the first time that women and children worked in the mines. There was a public outcry, led by politician and reformer Anthony Ashley Cooper, later Lord Shaftesbury, who then introduced the Mines and Collieries Act 1842 to Parliament which barred women, girls and boys under 10 (later amended to 13) from working underground, leading to the widespread use of horses and ponies in mining in England, though child labour lingered on to varying extents until finally eliminated by a variety of factors including further laws, improved inspection regimes, and changing economics.
Ponies worked alongside miners, entering the mine shafts never to return, learning to move through dark tunnels instead of open trails. They often worked long hours, sometimes up to 16 hours per day. In many cases, ponies were stabled underground, sometimes for years, only brought to the surface for rest or retirement. Tragically, many of them went nearly blind — their eyes unable to manage the brightness of the sun they hadn’t seen in so long.
These ponies weren’t just beasts of burden. They were quiet companions in one of the harshest environments, victims of an industry that took everything from them and gave little in return.

1974. április 25-én Zeca Afonso dala indította el a forradalmat a fasiszta diktatúra ellen.
Az első képen Zeca Afonso portréja látható a Parlamenttel szemben lévő streetart-on - felette a portugál Parlament épülete tükröződik. A második képen (Alfredo Cunha fényképe) a legendás Salgueiro Maia kapitány, aki a vértelen forradalom legfontosabb szervezője volt.

To anyone who believes fairy tale romances never happen in real life, may I remind you that JRR and Edith Tolkien met and experienced a forbidden love in their youth, and then were separated for five whole years because of his guardian’s rules that he could not date till he was 21, and she got engaged to someone else only because she assumed he’d forgotten her and lost hope that she could ever be with him, but then on his 21st birthday, he wrote her a letter saying he still loved her and wanted to marry her, she responded basically saying ‘if I’d known you hadn’t left me on the shelf, I would never have said yes to anyone else,’ then a week later she greeted him at the train station and then immediately dumped her fiancé, and they got married and she converted to his religion and danced for him in a flowering field far away from the trenches into which he was drafted, which left such an impression that he crafted an entire story about the most beautiful maiden in the world who danced in a flowering field and made enormous sacrifices to be with the man she loved, and they had four kids and remained faithful to each other and blissfully grew old together and their shared gravestone is now marked with the names of that same fictional couple that he created, who broke every rule and overcame every possible obstacle to be together and get a happy ending, who only did all that because he based it all on their own real love story.
