These kids were trying to find their identity and they wanted to be like the people whose houses they broke into…It’s such an LA story about how these kids were living in such proximity to the stars they admired and the glitzy culture they were obsessed with. They thought that by touching the glamourous life it would make them somebody. They are products of our growing reality TV culture and it’s something I thought was worth looking into. - Sofia Coppola

I say album when I mean a booklet of poetry. My first was finished only recently. It's called American Boy and consists of 3 books within itself, for a total of 15 formally listed poems and one "hidden" poem at the end. The first book is subtitled American Boy and is primarily about love and sex and hookup culture but also it's about materialism and immediate gratification. The second book is subtitled Advertisement and deals with themes of identity diffusion by way of technology. The third book is subtitled Yin Metal Heaven and has a transcendental/surrealist quality. The last formally listed poem is about sending your consciousness into someone else's body. The hidden poem is a poem I wrote towards the beginning of the semester but never workshopped. It's called Edge. It's about a guy I barely knew but swore to miss. The whole collection, and thus my semester, ends with a statement of love.

ok so there was this post talking about how boys love flowers too and no one ever gets them any or like cares,, SO we were doing awkward icebreakers in class and i decided to ask the guy next to me what his favorite flower was (half expecting him to say wut idk??) and he looked at me with a huge smile and said sunflowers and i think we should all just raise awareness that boys like flowers too
