The launch of the Subspace-Tether Public Affairs System
From The Federal Gazette - Article Written by Cy'rum M'tram
To grant our citizens the ability to see the inner workings of Congress, better interact with politicians, and influence the public debate on many important issues, the Subspace-Tether Public Affairs System (S-TPAS) has been created by an act of Congress. While slightly controversial, the bill that proposed it passed with an overwhelming margin and was quickly signed by President Ra'daan. It took just under three months to set up the corporation and film studio.
Most of the time citizens will be the only ones who will be able to "call in" to the shows, to discuss and ask questions with politicians of all sorts. This includes foreign diplomats and religious representatives from across the galaxy who can make the long journey to our nation.
It is hoped that this will set a new standard of political discussion that the republic has not seen before.

Strange Going-Ons
From The Surilia Weekly
The Colonial Governor 'Vofam has announced that recently there have been some unapproved pirate radio transmissions from the increasingly small area that is not yet under our complete control. The My'hram have been, for some time, listening to them. This is not unusual and is expected to occur whenever such a revolt would occur.
The truly strange thing is seemingly a group of My'hram that head into town squares to show videos of us bleeding! This causes the local My'hram to be much more resistant to our rule, for some unknown reason. Perhaps it has to do with our divine status.
Fellow citizens, keep an eye out for My'hram that you don't recognize for they may lead to social upheaval that neither you nor they would do well to have.
Governor 'Vofam has secondly announced that the Grand Plateau Victory Day will be occurring soon as the believed leaders of the rebellion have been captured. It is scheduled to happen in the next tenday.

Horror! Colonists Attacked! State of War Declared!
From The Federal Gazette - Article written by Tul M'tram
On the planet of Surilia, a desert world meant for our kin, exists a species of subservient aliens who have been - for some time - tending our fields, cooking our food, and generally helping our rule over the planet. They are known as the My'hram to us and had a name for their kin before we entered their lives. When we arrived in Surillia, we found them wanting leadership and a purpose in the galaxy. We have given that to them and more, they are much healthier than when we found them and have been given a better education than they could have imagined before our arrival.
Their culture sees us as holy beings, descending from the stars to improve their lives. This is, of course, a great burden placed upon our kind, but we do not refuse burdens and have taken this mantel - the colonists treating their My'hram as a folk to be led and protected. They, in turn, treat us as their holy defenders. A strange predicament, but not one that we would try to change.
Eventually, though, some of the My'hram began to note that their Holy Masters, as they refer to us, have different rules and different punishments in their realms. This is, apparently, a large theological issue. The Federal government was soon told about this and began to work on a standard set of rules for this planet, to maintain our role as the native's holy rulers.
The rules were soon decided and delivered to each farmstead and city by an "Archangel" - Senator Jypa 'Tasov, who is from Surilia - with a theological reason for the change. This settled most of the problems that the My'hram had, in all parts of the world except for one.
On the Grand Plateau, which stretches for thousands of kilometers and holds a population in the millions, the My'hram were not accepting of the Archangel's new rules. They rallied, denying our rightful rule, and were subjected to the punishment that we decided for them - the removal of vocal cords. The leaders of the rallies were the ones subjected to that, the masses were allowed to return.
This was a mistake. Days later, the main administrative building came under attack by a group of My'hram. Later that day, a general revolt of the species occurred, killing many of our peaceful colonists brutally. The local militia was called up and was able to contain their massacres to the rural portions of the Grand Plateau, the cities and major estates being in the Republic's hands.
The colonists called upon the Federal Government to aid them in quelling this.
The President of the Republic, Ra'daan, soon declared a State of War on the planet, mobilizing an army and a naval group to head to the planet and deal with the rebellious natives. Their armor had been modified to look more divine to the My'hram and have been given the task of retaking the territory from them while handing out the proper punishment for such a crime. In this case, that punishment is a sacrificial death.
As I write this, many thousands of the My'hram have been captured, ready to meet their end, with many more still in open revolt. Our tools will allow us to know which of the My'hram did not kill or speak out against our kin to ensure that only the guilty are punished.
Readers, know this, I will be at the Temple of the Grand Plateau when the day of punishment occurs and will give you a first-hand account, instead of this poor excuse of journalism.

The Distribution Act: Passed!
From The Democracy - Article written by Fes 'Tacam
In halls of the Federal Congress, the Distribution Act was thought up to allow the brave pioneers of our kind to be able to claim the land that they improved as their own property. On many of the planets that are undergoing our colonization, there has been some confusion on how exactly to gain proper ownership of the land one works on.
This will make it very clear. All one has to be is the head of a household - male or female - and improve an area by building infrastructure, a homestead, or preparing an area for further development. The person will also have to have lived on or near the land that they are claiming for twelve standard months.
President Ra'daan signed this bill, which was drafted by the Democracy, our stalwart against the authoritarian overreach of the president's party. The final count in the halls of Congress was 124 ayes to 23 nays.
Readers, this is a great victory for the settlers, and thus, all of us. Not only will we be able to gain much more land on our destined planets than the Federals would have given us otherwise. Now, of course, our dwellings will have to be defended from attacks on many planets, but we have been doing this already. The native inhabitants of the planets, who were trying to halt our expansion, will find themselves up against not only our material defenses but the legal onslaught that this allows us.

The Plight of the Gerang
From The Federal Gazette - Article written by Tul M'tram
On the world of Gerangia, named after the people who inhabited it before our kin began to civilize it, the natives have been suffering. Their inability to adapt to the new reality of Hamilonian settlement has forced their culture to decline, moving from one-impressive settlements to the kind that is shown in the image for this article. A great decline, just a few decades in the past they had cities ranging in the millions. It is estimated that now there are only a few million of them left on the planet. Should our culture rend them to their doom, as they are on their way to, it shall be a great shame to our honorable people. There are many opinions from the Hamilonians on this planet on the solution, one radical one including maintaining their species in a zoo. That is not the way the Gerang wishes to be treated. It is not how we should want them to be treated either. I have engaged in discussions with the Gerang and it is clear to me what should be done in this case - and probably in future cases as well. They desire to have land reserved for their kind, free from our settlement, to allow their civilizations to continue as if we were not on the world. In the Colonial Hall of Tere'nok, I brought this idea to the attention of the Colonial Governor, Ize 'Vofam. To him, the idea was a very interesting one as it would solve two issues in one go. First, the issue that they had been having with some natives attacking settlers. Second, the issue of where the natives shall go. Currently, most of them are spread out in small communities, unable to make much use of themselves beyond survival. I hope that this policy will win over the hearts and minds of my fellow Hamilonians, especially my dear readers, who know that while we are destined to the lands of a great deal of planets, we must be gracious to the stewards that allowed for our ease of settlement.

Qu'til and Other Cargo Retrieved
From The Federal Gazette - Article written by Tul M'tram (in photo)
As many of my readers already know, I am consistently involved in affairs involving our most peculiar institution and was very glad to have been selected as a correspondent for the missing ship affair. We were told that the ship was being recovered by a Fefing mercenary organization called "Maz'rin's Blade" - and while they may be mercenaries, do know that they are honorable and bound to tradition. Our band - led by the diplomat, Tek M'tram (to whom I am a cousin), quickly understood the shared comradery of two warrior peoples. M'tram made sure that all of the cargo was still on our vessel - the Fefings having secured the ship a few days hence - and paid the full 100 million federal credits that were offered in the bounty. After a full count, it was noted that 127 of the Qu'til were dead - a good deal less than was feared. Noting their warrior culture, I asked one of the Fefings in the company - I believe they were of a higher rank - to a sparring match in the on-board dueling room that Tek M'tram's diplomatic ship has. They agreed. Rules, leaning more toward our way of sparring, were agreed to, and a practice sword was given to the Fefing. They were, at first, clearly not versed in the art form, being far too aggressive, causing them to get hit by my own sparring sword a number of times. Soon enough, though, the Fefing was able to learn from observation and - due to my overconfidence - was able to land a strike on myself. (Never say that I do not write my own inadequacies, dear reader!) It was then that the payment was finalized and the time for our two peoples to separate once more. Later that day, as the vessels were beginning their preparations for the hyperspace jump back into the Republic, I asked Tek about his kinship with the Fefing Mercenaries. He allowed me to publish this statement: "We are both honorable warrior peoples, it is a shame that they have to pay the Zangrens for their own work. I have been given a way to contact them - we will do so if the situation calls for them." I hope, dear reader, that this means that I will be able to spar with the Fefings again. They may be short, but they are quite nimble!

The Federal Systems of Hamilonia Requests GUN Observer Status
Fellow Sentients of the Galaxy, As the President of the Federal Systems, it is my duty to take care of foreign policy. While this has not been a major portion of my duties in prior years, mostly due to our self-imposed isolation, this has changed. We have also seen the broadcasts from the intergovernmental organization the Galactic United Nations, which appears to be a forum for interstellar diplomacy. Since there appears to be no other similar forum for less... radical... nations, it is preferable that we have a voice in this organization. I have consulted with the Federal Senate and they have, by a large margin, voted in favor of requesting an observer status in the Galactic United Nations. Once we are granted such a status, I will personally visit the headquarters to represent the Federal Systems of Hamilonia for a rotation before being replaced by a permanent diplomat. Thank you for your time.

We welcome your interest in the cargo. Most of it, by volume, is supplies for a new colony, which includes a population of Qu'til. The Qu'til are, as previously noted, an alien race. It is the hope of the Hamilonian Government that your kind respects our property rights.
Message from the 2nd Quadrant
Hello, Xenos of this galaxy of ours. We are the Federal Systems of Hamilonia, a republic that is requesting aid in securing property. While in transit from the Planet of Jo'jayan to the new Colony of A'Dadan, the cargo it was transporting overpowered the guards and took control of an FTL Capable Starship.
This is a massive security issue, for all those who are around, a ship with the cargo in control is no good. In fact, we know that all of our kin who were guarding or piloting the ship died. We saw it on our cameras.
So please, if you can, find and track our ship. We are offering a reward of 10 Million Federal Credits for tracking it down. 60 Million plus cargo if it is recovered.
We hope for the galaxy's help in our harrowing endeavor.

Greetings, Monarchist. Do not worry about our structure. Our government has strict requirements to obtain the franchise to ensure that the rabble does not have influence over our government. It ensures that only the most virtuous leaders are elected, instead of, say, becoming the leader from their birth. We, too, hope that some value may be gleaned from your civilization was well.
A Formal Greeting
Fellow Sentients of the Galaxy. I am President Ra'daan of the Federal Systems of Hamilonia. I would like to explain a few things about our nation as it is now clear to us that our asking for aid may not be greeted with the support that we wished to have seen. Our nation is, first and foremost, a Republic. It is also expanding in both industrial capacity and size. A great deal of habitable planets are near our borders and we are expanding every day to get them into our country. Many of our own Hamilonians are, on their own and without approval, expanding out into the wilds there. There are a few major internal issues, one of which was whether we should contact other advanced alien species, which has clearly been seen as a success. If you wish to know more about the internal issues, do say, as we can always translate the National Gazette into this common tongue that is used in interstellar communications. We, like all others, wish to ensure the safety and prosperity of our future generations and thus greet all those who will see this with friendship and trade. Thank you for your time.

The People of the Federal Systems welcome your desire for peace and know that there are many radicals outside of our borders. We do thank that you are bidding us good tidings, I bit you good tidings as well. Do know that we are friends to all religions and will never hate this Bleckron you seem to admire. So, come to our planet. We have much to discuss if we are to conduct trade with one another. And don't worry about our feet, we shall respect your traditions as you respect our own.

We can see that your nation is run by radical populists who know nothing about good governance. We are in fact considering developing their world by incorporating it. It is not our fault that the local governments on the planet wish to remain outside of our nation currently. The Federal Systems would gladly accept them into our space, they simply wish for the continuance of this situation.

We purchased them at a fair market price from their own species. Not every Qu'til is in bondage, many are quite wealthy from this trade. It's a win-win-win as we can provide a much better life for them than they would have had on their homeworld.

No mistranslation here. They are indeed cargo, it is illegal to put so many passengers in such a confined space as they are in transport ships.

Greetings, fellow star-traveler. We are sure that you have heard the other broadcasts about the Cargo and Transmitter. Do be good to those who are on the ship. Even though some are murderers, not all of them are, and those who are likely have a psychological disorder and thus cannot be fully blamed. If you do not wish to have the cargo, we are willing to pay 100 Million Federal Credits for the ship plus the cargo.
