Hamtaro Ice Cream and Macaroons Blind Boxes

Three new blind boxes have been announced for December! The first set are small plushies of the ham-hams as tapioca ice cream for 1100 yen per bind box. Next are blind bag pins that match the plushies for 715 yen per bag. Last is a blind box of the ham-hams' faces on macaroon plushoes for 1100 per blind box.

These are really cute and I think will match well with the crepe plushies coming soon to crane games!

These are currently available for preorder on the tapioca website! You can buy a case so that you don't get duplicates!

Hamtaro Bookmarks

Release Date: October 2025

Even more cheaper priced Hamtaro goods are on the way! Bandai is releasing blind bags with one bookmark each bag depicting the Ham-Hams! Each blind bag costs around 100 yen and what's great is you can buy the whole set for 2000 yen! These will be releasing at animate in October, there's currently a link to buy through the animate.jp site but I couldn't find it on the global site.

Great news though! You can preorder on AmiAmi right now! Just be aware the shipping will probably be more than the cost of the bookmarks, so its probably better to order it with something else releasing in October...

Hamtaro Ichiban-kuji (Lottery)

In light of today (8/6) being Hamtaro's birthday, the official Hamtaro Twitter announced there will be a new lottery next year! It appears this will be angel themed and the art looks very cute! I wonder if this is the closest thing we will get Ham Ham Heartbreak merch??

The account stated more information will come out closer to the release date. All we know for now is that the lottery is expected to release sometime early 2025 (maybe February to go with Valentine's Day). As of right now it seems the lottery will be in stores only. 😭

I suspect 2025 will be a big year for Hamtaro fans as it will be the 25th anniversary of the series. Stay tuned to see what else is in store!

Hamtaro Ribbon Collection

A new collaboration has been announced and oh man does Japanese Twitter seem conflicted! A huge selection of new merch will appear at Daiso and Seria locations across Japan next month! These are 100 yen stores (think of a dollar store if your country has one) with usually pretty good quality items. Including tax, each item costs 110 yen, which if you did the math would come out to 11550 yen (or around 80 USD at the current rate). Everyone seemed happy with that price! Except.....it's sounds like most of the items are in blind boxes...and you can't buy a case to make sure you don't get duplicates....

With how much hamtaro merch we're getting I think we can all agree that we're facing blind bag fatigue, and Japanese Twitter is not happy about the fact they may need to spend more money to hopefully get the character they want.

The collab contains the following items: zipper pouches, contacts case, compact mirrors, clear files, stickers, washi tape, mini Drawstring bags, rubber key chains, enamel key chains, die cut stickers, acrylic stands, alligator clips (Hair clips? Bag clips?? Who knows), and cord holders. I am assuming anything with more than two variants will be in blind bags.

And like sure it's only 110 yen, but the economy isn't great right now, if people can't buy by the case then there's going to be a huge shortage in merch and a rise in resellers...and no one wants to be dealing with that while trying to keep afloat financially. It's a 100 yen shop, we should be able to just buy the character we want for that price...

Either way this is a super cute set and I'm extremely jealous that I WONT BE THERE FOR IT. I had been waiting for 5 years to be in Japan during the 25th anniversary and I couldn't go in April and I may not be able to go at any point this year 😭😭😭

Hamtaro Anime Announcement!

Oxnard's birthday surprise on May 3rd was that the Hamtaro anime will be rerun on Abema for free starting June 20th! It won't include all of the episodes from the series, for now it is episodes 97-296 (Japanese numbering) the OVAs and movies will also be available!

I don't remember about the anime and movies anymore, but this might include some episodes/movies that were never released outside Japan. Someone who knows more about this stuff please correct me!! The OVAs and movies are below:

Hey just an FYI I'll most likely be offline for the next week so you may not see any updates or responses to posts for the time being. Some info under the cut but TW: animal death

My cat is going to be passing away today. She was diagnosed with thymoma back in December/January, which is a tumor that grows around their lungs. This is an extremely rare tumor (only like 30 cats have ever been diagnosed with it, and shes the youngest to ever be diagnosed at 6 yrs old), but my partner and I did everything we could to help her. She got radiotherapy and surgery to remove it, but ever since this it's been a gradual decline. She's been admitted to the ER more times than I can count at this point, and the last doctor we spoke to believes she has intestinal cancer that no one ever noticed.

It's been a hard last 6 months and her body just couldn't keep going. She can't fight two cancers in different parts of her body, and unfortunately for her they picked areas she already had issues with (asthma, lung scarring, constipation issues).

Thank you for understanding, and thank you Mochi for the time you gave us.

If you are hoping to find these in Japan you better be there right now! Japanese Twitter was upset because some stores started selling these goods before June 1st, so a lot of resellers grabbed everything they could and were selling things for 8-12xs normal price!

The worst part is that fans are noting only one blind box case of goods are being released at each store (so there's 15 acrylic stands blind boxes, they only get 1 case of 15. So if you're hoping to get the full set you need to be in the store the moment it opens)

I found out some fans are fighting off resellers by buying up everything they can and then selling off the merch to other fans for the normal price of 110 yen per item. It seems this group wants you to prove that you are a fan and not a reseller.

Just a warning! If you will be in Japan this month and were looking forward to buying these, please be aware that the stores may be cleared out!

I tried buying Hamtaro merch from Surugaya Online. Here's my experience.

Ham-ha! This review is a bit long so I've put everything below the readme so I don't clog up anyone's blog!

I'm gonna say, I love Surugaya. Whenever I'm in Japan I rush to the physical stores immediately, and 9 times outta 10 I walk away with something I've been looking for. So imagine my surprise when I realized that Surugaya ships overseas! I went a bit crazy and bought a ton of Hamtaro stuff that I have been searching for, with most of this stuff on my wishlist for about 5 years now!

There are actually 2 online stores, one for international buyers and the other for residents in Japan. The prices on the international site are way higher (usually double or more than the japanese site), and the stock does not get updated as quickly. I purchased my items through the international website, but I've heard it's cheaper to use a proxy service and just buy through the japanese site.

Shipping Timeframe and Experience

My items arrived very quickly, it looks less than 2 weeks from ordering to receiving the package, which I feel was faster than my experience buying from other japanese stores online. Everything was packed nicely and my ceramic plates miraculously survived transit! I honestly thought they were plastic plates so that was a nice surprise! I had a non-Hamtaro related poster get bent in the corners but that was the only damage I've noticed due to shipping.

Product Review

Most of my products arrived without issue. Some items still had their original tags/boxes, while others did not. This doesn't bother me since I'm not concerned about it being in perfect condition, but be aware if you want to purchase something! I am overall happy with most items I bought, I was really excited for the Ichiban Kuji prizes and the cafe merch since I have looking for those forever. I also bought two books from the early 2000s, I had no idea what was in these but they actually have news about the show and advertise the merchandise at the time with prices! If you wanna see some of these pages let me know!!!

I didn't see a place on the website noting the condition of the products, but most of my items came in pretty good condition....except for Jingle. The one I received has marker on his face!! The listing never specified he was damaged. I'm kinda sad about this because I paid retail price for this, does anyone know how to safely remove marker from a plushie???

One other negative, I recieved a plush that I did not order. I had purchased this crane game hamtaro with his paws pointing upwards, but I recieved one where his paws are down. Thankfully I didn't have either of these plushies, but it's a bit disappointing that I recieved something other than the product image listed.

Would I recommend buying from Surugaya Online?

Ehhhhhhhh if you're unable to visit a physical store in person I would say go for it, but maybe buy through the japanese site since it's significantly cheaper. I personally liked that I could buy items I've been searching for forever, but I'm kinda bummed that I received goods that aren't up to the quality standards I am used to in Japan. I think i would only buy again if it's something I am desperately looking for with no hope of ever finding again. But for now I'd rather wait until the next time I visited a physical Surugaya, I enjoy hunting for goods in person way more than online shopping!!

We have been blessed by the Ham-ham gods with ANOTHER ICHIBAN KUJI!!!

This one appears to be using the mid 2000s design of Hamtaro, I wonder what the merch will be?

Ohhh they hate me don't they, they say hey let's have 2 ichiban kujis in one year, when Pho can't participate in either of them!!! Lmao my partner has jury duty during the June one, and I have tax season in October 😭😭

Oh well. Maybe this stuff will pop up in second hand shops soon after?

Hamtaro Board Games
