"Toronto band Fake Palms, came together as a collection of bedroom demos recorded with a broken drum machine by Michael le Riche in 2011, the project morphed into a band in early 2015 when le Riche brought together longtime contributors of Toronto’s music scene. In keeping with Fake Palms' stripped back bedroom origins, the group value simplicity and directness. TALLIES share a new version of their recent single, "Special" featuring Michael Peter Olsen (Drake, Ed Sheeran, Wolf Alice) on cello. It's a new version of the track that was released initially as part of their second album, Patina which is out now via Kanine, Bella Union and Hand Drawn Dracula Records. The band is set to hit the road this month in the UK and Europe ticking off a string of shows including a stop with RIDE  and Rolling Stone Beach with Black Country New Road, RIDE and Teenage Fanclub. Coming produced by Graham Walsh (of Holy Fuck, previously helmed records by METZ and Alvvays) alongside Dylan Frankland of the band at Palace Sound, Baskitball 4 Life and Candle Recording in Toronto, the recent album, Patina arrives as a true labor of love; one that was delayed due to the pandemic but ultimately marks a truly rewarding collection for the band.
