A tribute to The Valkyrie’s Vigil by Edward Robert Hughes.

Today I’m sharing one of the illustrations I created for American Gods. I’ll be posting three or four in total, the ones I feel closest to, the ones that taught me something.

It’s my way of closing this chapter, before fully turning to my new project: Labyrinthe.

all that said the guy with my car insurance company who answered the phone was so fucking funny. he had a heavy Georgia accent which endeared me to him immediately and he was sooo worried about me and apologetic that there was no one to send to my aid and I said "that's okay. if i end up missing though they're gonna interview you as the last person who heard from me. what if there's a documentary?" and he said "ooooooo, can I start drama?" I said, "well, what kind?" And he said, "I'm gonna tell them you said you saw a green flash in the sky over the field and I heard strange voices then the line went dead."

very strange phenomenon now that many people have learned online not to pet service dogs is that they walk by little bird and me, wave their hands at little bird, and say in a baby voice "oooohh you're so cute! you're so cute! i'm not going to pet you because i know you're working! ooohhhh puppy puppy puppy, i want to pet you but i'm not allowed~" and i have to tell them what they're doing is literally as distracting as petting her. this happens almost every single time i'm out with her.

"So what do you do when you're not kicking ass on the battlefield or winning over everyone's hearts on national TV?" The chat show host flashes a too-white smile as the audience laughs. "What do you do in your off time?"

My off time. Like I could kick off the stiletto heels that are physically part of my feet, wipe away the cherry red colour of my plastic lips, or lay down the weapons built directly into my skeleton.

What do I do in my off time? Absolutely fucking nothing.

"I like gardening!" I say with a smile.

going about my day as a shoestore employee and i turn into an aisle and an older gentleman comes up to me and says "did human anatomy change since i was growing up?" and as a transgender man alone in a store with some random man i go "aha. what?" and he goes "human anatomy. must have changed." and he points to the shoes he's trying on and says "all these shoes nowadays have damn pointy toes. i dont remember having pointy toes" and i felt the biggest relief of my life
