Weekly Journal 3 - Improving my art
Around a few weeks ago, most of my classes were cancelled since it was a busy week for my lecturers. So, I decided to improve my art to buy time because there wasn’t exactly anything that I could do. I loved drawing, I still do but, I was quite busy up until now. Now’s the chance for me to do what I want for a change without worrying about missing classes. Anyways, for the first day, I decided to practice rendering first. It’s been a while, and I’d like to experiment with different rendering styles for drawings. Rendering is my most favourite part because it’s satisfying to see how the final piece looks like after adding some shades and lightning. I continued this for a few days before moving to practicing full bodies. For as long as I remember, I’ve always struggled with those. It’s quite difficult to draw poses without making them look awkward. By the end of the week, I am happy to say that I’ve improved. My full bodies don’t look as awkward, and my art style is consistent for a change. It was a very fulfilling week for me as an artist since I got to improve my art significantly over to past few days. In conclusion, I was quite satisfied with how I spent my time for this week.

Weekly Journal 2 - Trip to South Korea
A few months ago, I was chosen to present a product that was produced by Universiti Teknologi MARA in a competition known as Seoul International Invention Fair 2022. I went there with four other students from different schools. Each of us had one main product that we must present to the jury. Anyways, the product that I had to present was known as Maternity Botanical bath bomb. It is a bath bomb that is made of herbs meant to aid women during their postpartum period because traditionally, it takes time to prepare. Three out of four of our products earned us bronze and silver medals. We were awarded a bronze medal for the Maternity Botanical bath bomb.
After our hard-earned victory, we were given the green light by our supervisors to explore South Korea. For the first day, we went to Gyeongbokgung Palace. There wasn’t exactly anything that we could do other than rent traditional Korean clothes for the day to fit in with the ancient atmosphere. Unfortunately, I did not rent any clothes as they were quite expensive but, I would soon regret that decision since it’s not every day you get to dress up in an ancient palace. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my time there taking pictures with my friends and the locals we’ve met along the way. The next day, we went to Nami Island. The scenery there was incredibly stunning. Furthermore, the place is convenient for us Muslims since there is a musolla, a place of prayer. The musolla there was spacious and comfortable, unlike the other musollas I’ve been to in South Korea. South Korea isn’t exactly a Muslim tourist friendly country. Frankly, I find it difficult to perform my prayers whenever we go out. As the day comes to an end, we decided to stop by at Meyong-dong to buy souvenirs. To my surprise, a lot of store clerks can speak Malay there. I find it intriguing that most of the locals I’ve met so far can speak Malay more than English. Anyways, that marks our final day of exploring South Korea since we had to pack our luggage the day after. My trip there was an experience I would never forget.

Weekly Journal 1 - Returning Home
I decided to return to my hometown located in Nibong Tebal, Pulau Pinang this week after taking some time off from college. It has been a while, and I missed my family dearly. However, the journey home overall was last minute. Other than longing for the comforts of my hometown, I also had a few matters to attend to. Recently, I’ve received an offer for a Tertiary Education Sponsorship Programme (TESP) from MARA. It’s an offer that I cannot refuse. If I were to accept this sponsorship, I’ll be able to lift my parent’s burden from paying for my college tuition fees. But there’s a catch, I must complete the documents required within two weeks. I have no choice but to collaborate with my fellow classmates to be able to convince our lecturers to postpone their classes. This is to ensure that we’ll have enough time to receive the documents necessary from our parents, especially to those who live far away from the state of Selangor. Furthermore, for my own convenience, I booked a train ticket which is incredibly pricey. Yet, I refuse to waste my time any further and a train is much faster as well convenient in comparison to a bus.
Anyways, I was exhausted once I arrived home, to say the least. Even then, I couldn’t take a break the following day. Once the sun is up, I got myself ready for the day and began working on the finishing touches for my final report that’s due on the very same day in the evening. After that, I had lunch and was then dragged by mom to settle things regarding my bank account since, I had just turned 18-years-old a few weeks ago. The next day was also quite tiresome because my parents wanted to eat out at a mall which is quite far away. I did not want to hurt their feelings, so I did not object when they proposed the idea. Fast forward to the day after, I woke up early and got myself ready to return to college. It was four in the morning, and I was extremely tired. Still, I somehow managed and returned to the college’s dormitory in one piece. It was a hectic trip, to say the least.
