Aphrodite is genuinely such a beautiful goddess. She appears to me in many different forms, sometimes a young woman with blonde hair as bright as the sand of a beach and the warmth of the sun hidden in her smile; sometimes a kind mother figure in her 50s with salt and pepper hair mimicking seafoam, wrinkles under her eyes from years of smiling, sun-kissed beach skin, who gives the best mom hugs; sometimes a with light brown water-drenched hair and gritty sand on her sparkling skin; sometimes simply a figure less, body less form of blue and pink flowing energy with a comforting hum. I love her Mother Aphrodite all her forms of beauty.

I think there must be something behind the way even Hellenic polytheists have moments with the gods that feel very ‘fandom’ like. Like we understand their divinity, we literally worship them. Yet we see a funny meme and go ‘haha that’s so (insert god)’

I wonder if the way we get almost head canon like ideas about them, is up to a point, them giving us some insight into themselves. Maybe I’m just being autistic here, but I have this sense of certainty of details about Hypnos, that if I say out loud sound like a fandom head canon. I see a funny video and go ‘that’s so Hypnos’. I see an outfit in a shop and think ‘Hypnos would wear that’. Sometimes I can’t tell if I’m just being hyper fixated and it’s the fandom way of thinking getting to me, or if it’s actually Hypnos saying ‘yes I like that outfit, yeah I’d totally do that funny thing’.

I feel like assigning head canons, as long as it’s something that isn’t disrespectful is just our way of getting to know the deity in some way. Like they’re air dropping some details about themselves into our heads. Or maybe I’m just autistic idk.

the gods understand that we're not perfect, that we're just fleshy meat sacks and that some of us aren't able to do things as much, and you shouldn't compare your craft to anyone else's! it's yours after all.

and if you're worried that your offerings aren't good enough, think about it like this. if a little crow came up to you and gave you a stick, you wouldn't think "what a dumb crow, why'd you give me a stick?", would you? no! you'd know that the little crow is doing his best and wanted to give you a gift. to the deities, you're that little crow, and they know you're doing your best <3

Urgent Appeal for HelpGazaChildren: Help refugees flee to Khan Younis!

Because of the looming invasion and brutal bombing throughout the most densely populated area in Gaza, Rafah, many refugees are looking to evacuate to Khan Younis!

The bombing is random and even the areas not included in the evacuation notices are bombarded. Many refugees are asking Hussam for funds to help them evacuate to Khan Younis to help keep their families safe.

The above is a screenshot of a facebook post from someone in Rafah. A tent can be as much as $700 and the transportation costs anywhere between $250-$400 per family. This cost is primarily for gas alone!!

Please donate so that people may be able to evacuate while also being able to afford basic necessities.

Even if you're unable to donate, please share this post and the fundraiser even outside of tumblr and on other platforms! This is incredibly urgent!!
