The Tattoo Artist, Valerie Han.
Born on May 15, 1998, Valerie Han is a tattoo artist who effortlessly balances bold creativity with raw authenticity. While studying Fine Arts at Ewha Womans University, she discovered her love for tattooing and began practicing in secret, turning her dorm room into a makeshift studio. By the time she graduated in 2021, her unique, emotionally charged designs had already caught the attention of those in Seoul's underground art scene.
In 2023, Valerie co-founded Crazed Studio alongside tattoo veterans Ryeon Lee and Kade Moon, two icons in the industry known for their high-profile clientele and avant-garde artistry. Unlike her cofounders, who thrive in the limelight of the celebrity world, Valerie has stayed rooted in the underground culture that first inspired her.
Despite her growing reputation, Valerie considers herself a lifelong learner, constantly refining her craft under the guidance of Ryeon and Kade. Their mentorship pushes her to explore new techniques and perspectives, which she channels into her work. Her designs reflect the grit and beauty of the subcultures she draws inspiration from—always unconventional, always real.
Valerie thrives in the shadows, focusing on the art itself and the stories her clients entrust to her. It’s this grounded, unpolished edge that has made her a standout in an industry often obsessed with glamor. To this day, Valerie remains deeply connected to the people and places that shaped her journey, staying true to her roots as she continues to leave her mark at the Crazed Studio and wherever she stepped her foot onto.

Han Suhyeon, known as Valerie, is a tattoo artist who was born and raised in Busan, South Korea.
Unlike other tattoo artists, Valerie refused to ink her own skin due to a skin condition called keloid scarring. She understands that if she were to get tattooed, the healing process would be much more difficult and costly for her. Instead, she focused on temporary tattoos alongside permanent ones and created designs that showcased her distinctive artistic style.
Her parents admired her achievements as a fine arts student but disapproved of her tattooing career. To them, the art world already felt too broad and unpredictable, especially the social aspect of tattooing. They pictured an environment filled with people drinking and smoking freely, and they couldn’t imagine Valerie thriving in such a space.
Moreover, her parents wanted her to marry, but Valerie refused. This led to heated arguments, with frustrations building on both sides.
As a result, Valerie decided to leave her childhood home. To this day, she has never returned. Despite already graduating from university, she refused to go back. Valerie had once lived a comfortable life, fully supported by her parents. But after their falling-out, they cut her off entirely. Her credit cards were blocked, and she could no longer indulge in the shopping sprees she once enjoyed.
Ever since then, Valerie has shared an apartment with her best friend, Woo Jian, whose lifestyle is vastly different from her own. Over time, Valerie realized that something needed to change. It was time to start looking for a new place so that both of them could have the private space they needed.
For Valerie, this felt like a step forward—a chance to prove to herself (and maybe even her parents) that she could truly stand on her own.
She would make it. Would she?
