I think an under-discussed component of "Twink Death" is that whatever allowance we are awarded to express femininity and androgyny is tied to youth. It can be charming in a "boyish" way, but it's a phase we're supposed to grow out of when we reach a certain age and revert to the generic category of men. Are many afraid to age because we live in a youth-obsessed culture and want to remain fuckable? Well yes, but I see a real fear that suddenly our gender expression will be seen as embarrassing or perverted. It's also of course fucked up that gender expression should be tied to body type to begin with!

i want to thank the 1920s-1930s third wheel who saw their two friends lying in bed together in their underwear and stocking garters reading a book with their legs wrapped around each other and said “i am going to take a photograph of this”

A lot of flamboyance and "making being gay your whole personality" is like. Gender performance and playing with symbols and signifiers to tailor the way you're perceived and reject an expectation of your assigned gender that is dysphoric and or the very least unrelatable.

When straight society invented the sissy, the faggot, the equivalent in almost every language, to intimidate men and trans women into compliance, they unwittingly created a new gender. It's a lesser, or at least separate class of man, or in many cases not a man at all. Created as an nebulous threat, the possibilities of what it means to be one became endless. Either weak or brutishly strong to the point of unfair advantage, neutered or hypersexual, ignorant bimbo or cosmopolitan intellectual, starving underclass or ostentatious elite, victim or villain, powerless but powerful enough to be a threat to society just by existing. People who would never admit to seeing gender on nonbinary terms still intuitively recognize and treat this class as a distinct, socially recognized gender with its own signifiers. Despite the cruelty behind this category, its defiance of convention makes it alluring even to people who hate it. Those who embrace their faggotry are not putting themselves into a box but tapping into their limitless potential.

Anyone on the "gay men are no longer 'queer enough' for my resentment towards them to be seen as cancellable" are just bigots. There is no deeper explanation or righteous justification. You have no principles and the only thing stopping you from being outwardly bigoted to other groups is because you're afraid of consequences.

I don't think a lot of people view gay men who do sex work as, well, sex workers. They claim to disagree with the SWERF argument that onlyfans models are somehow privileged until it comes to gay men, at which point it's just proof of a hedonistic lifestyle made possible by living an easy life. It's all jammed into the ever increasingly incoherent pop radicalism of "gay men are no longer queer enough." Characteristics that usually point to the exact opposite are suddenly signs of privilege in gay men: an association with sex work (clearly not just online), drug abuse, carefully curated tight-knit networks of support... It's very unfashionable among left leaning people online to hate on onlyfans models as a whole, but "onlyfans gays?" Well, it's their own fault for being so gosh darned annoying and simple minded.

we should be able to discuss how online "queer culture" is extremely white-americanized and is being pushed onto international queer people to a point of erasure of their own queer histories, which can literally be defined as both xenophobia and also american domination. of course, however, since most of you don't care even for poc inside your own country, we're far away from this conversation.

gays on tumblr love to make “does something sexual with u as a friend” posts as if we all don’t fall madly in love with every boy who is remotely nice to us.

I’m reading The Deviants War: The Homosexual vs The United States of America and the entire point of gay pride as a concept comes from police raids on bars, clubs, public restrooms, etc where gays were humiliated and outed in the newspapers (sometimes with their addresses!) and had careers ruined and lives upended by being associated with perversion and vice squads and all that and they responded by going “no I’m proud” and took that pride to the streets in defiance of the huge mechanism of shame that existed to oppress the gay community into obscurity and so the fact that people are now trying to apply conservative dogma to pride parades to make them “safe for children” or in other words “safe for people with oppressive conservative values” is simply insane

I used to hate the word faggot but now I realize that it's probably one of the only things that the gay community has left that isn't being sanitized, shined, and sold back to us at a premium by deceitful ass companies who claim to like us but then vote for policies that kill us. you're not gonna see a bank in a pride parade with banners that say "we love faggots" but you sure as hell will see a gay person saying "I love being a faggot" it feels so more real.
and I want it to stay controversial too because if a bank ever feels like they have the right to say "haha faggot right guys? 😏🏳️🌈" we should be able to publicly execute their ceo
