Happy New Year dear friends! Wishing you lots of love and strong health! 🤗💕🎆 Our whole little family was off social media for a long time, working a little bit in our garden and a lot on our new Raw Vegan Ninjas community. We decided to focus on helping fabulous women over forty to get back in shape with the power of low fat raw vegan lifestyle. The humble lemon, I ignored it for way too long and finally started using it in our salads. Especially now when our lemon trees are loaded. So happy I did! Lemon makes our salads more savory, tangy, hydrating, scrumptious and invigorating. Do you enjoy adding lemon juice to your salads or other dishes? It’s actually much easier to make these delicious and satisfying wraps than it might seem. The wrap itself is made from blended and dehydrated veggies and flax seeds. Prep time - 10-15 minutes, dehydrating less than a day. The delicious pulled mushroom filling - prep time about 15 minutes, dehydrating time - 3-4 hours. Are your food choices supporting the natural balance on earth? Even the least sustainable plant crops are in most cases more sustainable than animal agriculture. If you feel drawn to support the planet, plant foods are the natural choice. Additionally, it helps to choose locally grown produce as much as possible without depriving yourself too much. Because deprived vegans is not the best advertisement to this beautiful lifestyle. Even the most delicious and satisfying raw vegan food doesn’t have to be high in fat or take hours of work to prepare. Yes, you might use dehydrator and it might take some waiting time. But it’s actually very nice to have the humming, warmth and aroma of dehydrator going in the kitchen. And if you don’t have a dehydrator, you can always follow a recipe for dehydrated raw foods and eat it without dehydrating by wrapping it in lettuce. 👌🏼🍀💚 You could also try to dry it in the sun or in your oven on the lowest setting with the door a crack open. Do you use or would like to use dehydrator to make your raw vegan meals more satisfying? I want to be honest and admit that not any raw vegan lifestyle keeps me in shape. At times when I start eating higher fat meals and less juicy fruits and veggies, I start gaining a little bit of extra weight. Not anywhere as much as I used to gain on processed foods, but still. If it’s challenging for you to eat an abundance of juicy fruits and veggies, I totally understand. For us, it’s not easy to find this abundance in our small town. But with some effort, it’s totally possible. The trick for me is to remember how much better I feel eating large amounts of high-water content produce. And to remember that it’s 1000% worth the effort and the investment. How do you feel about eating large quantities of fresh fruits and veggies? I always thought that weight gain after pregnancy is almost inevitable. Especially being extremely busy taking care of our little warrior-princess. It didn’t happen to me at all. I returned to my pre-pregnancy weight in about a week or two. I am extremely grateful to the beautiful and balanced raw vegan lifestyle for keeping me happy, healthy and fit. And I am not the only one. There are thousands of people benefiting from this lifestyle. Especially the ones who are doing it in a balanced way. I just wrote a post about organic and non-organic produce and it’s been automatically removed. 🤪 I guess the name of one of the lists I shared sounds suspicious to them. 🙈 I’ll call it differently then - unclean dozen (we buy these organic to avoid extra pesticides): 1. Strawberries 2. Spinach 3. Kale, collard, and mustard greens 4. Nectarines 5. Apples 6. Grapes 7. Cherries 8. Peaches 9. Pears 10. Bell and hot peppers 11. Celery 12. Tomatoes Clean 15, some of these we get in a supermarket, but still prefer organic: Avocados Sweet Corn* Pineapple Onions Papaya Sweet peas (frozen) Eggplants Asparagus Broccoli Cabbage Kiwi Cauliflower Mushrooms Honeydew melon Cantaloupe Also, we sometimes get regular bananas, but not sure if they are more contaminated now. Do you have to only eat organic fruits and veggies? Of course, organic and homegrown is usually the best. But if you can’t get everything organic, or if organic produce is too low quality, there are some conventional fruits and veggies that are less contaminated than others. Check the latest “dirty dozen” and “clean fifteen” to get the idea. Dirty dozen 2022 - 1.Strawberries 2. Spinach 3. Kale, collard, and mustard greens 4. Nectarines 5. Apples 6. Grapes 7. Cherries 8. Are you stocking up on fruit in advance? Most fruit we buy or order comes pretty hard to touch. This fruit is not ripe and would leave us feeling hungry. That’s why we are getting fruit about a week before we eat it. This way it has time to ripen and becomes soft, fragrant, sweet and satisfying. And at the same time you need to make sure that it’s not going bad. So it’s important to check all the fruit every day and eat up all the soft ones.
