1/2 I'm hoping you can helo me, or point me to someone who can. I recently got 2 EBA for my forty gallon. They got along fine at first a bit of chasing but they both ate great and there was so much space for them it was fine. I'm pretty sure I have a male and a female; One has longer pointier fins and the other has rounder fins. They're about 3". ANYWAY the male has been non stop chasing the female at every opportunity and won't let her near the food at feeding time. I try to feed her at the

2/2 opposite end of the tank but if the male comes anywhere near her she runs and hides. The tank is fully planted so she's really hard to see when she hides I've gotten her to eat a little but the male is now much bigger then her and im worried about her. Should I separate them? I have a tiny quarintine tank i could put either him or her in for a bit. Or will this calm down at some point? Tia ❤❤

I would definitely separate them, and I would take the male out so the female has a chance to establish herself in the tank. It is possible they won’t both work out in there long term, so you may have to look at rehoming one of them if the behaviour continues. If it’s possible you can try rearranging the main tank as well.

Also ime it’s unlikely they’re male and female if one is bullying the other like that, although I’m sure it’s possible. My m/f pairs (of other cichlids) have always paired up without issue but I do only have experience with them in larger tanks.

Back to stage one because I neglected the tank for a few weeks and it went a little crazy 😅 Unfortunately by letting it get so overgrown it killed a bunch of the plant species, and there were big dead spots that were full of algae, so I pulled out all of the Murdania and started fresh.

Sirius is still eating like a champ! I think keeping him on an irregular schedule through the summer has helped deter him from going into breeding mode. Last year he didn’t eat from mid-October to April, so I’m hoping to avoid that this year.

July 15 2019 (planting day) - July 28 2019 - August 25 2019

A little over one month in and things are going pretty well. Unfortunately I lost both species of Alternanthera so I’m working to figure out why, and the HC ‘cuba’ just didn’t take off, but pretty much everything else is growing like a weed.

My CO2 diffuser failed and of course it’s while I’m on vacation, so I’m 99% sure this tank is going to look like an absolute disaster by the time I get back. I can already see the bba starting in the tiny video he sent me 😢

It only took 3 hours to plant 😅 I can’t wait to see it grown in!
