I saw a post one time about someone who was not British saying that they thought the Magnus protocol symbol looked cool, and they didn’t know that it was a British government thing, and me, who is a humble Canadian, wasn’t aware of this either. So the symbol on the cover (?) of tmagp is the British royal arms, the symbol for British government agencies, the twist is, it’s backwards, and it took me a while to figure out if that meant anything, and I found out that if the royal arms is backwards, its a symbol of COWARDICE OF THE BEARER. WHY WOULD A GOVERNMENT AGENCY HAVE THAT.

ITS CALLED A HERALDRY, AND ITS WORN THAT WAY IF SOMEONE IS GIVEN A ROYAL DEGREE OF MISCONDUCT.

so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.

"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"

but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.

such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.

Car Trunk vs Car Boot: A clear win for US English, trunk was already a thing in which you stored items, frequently for transport.

Crisps vs Chips: I gotta admit, the Brits have this one. They're thin slices of potato that have been made crispy. No chipping of any materials involved.

Car Park vs Parking Lot: Equally matched. What's a car park? A place to park cars. What's a parking lot? An otherwise empty lot where you can park.

Elevator vs Lift: Both equally fail to address that the damn thing also goes down.

i love the layers of fiction and reality on Taskmaster. Yes we know Alex is in charge of the whole thing, but he is just the taskmaster's assistant. this is where the Taskmaster lives and this is how he likes to take his eggs, but don't forget this is just a tv show
