yeah, it definitely isn't the type of work for you then. people are too thin-skinned these days. military, huh? what branch? thank you for your service, by the way. yeah, it's... it's interesting, that's for sure. i don't recommend if you're not a fan of showtunes. especially wicked or six.
Tumblr media
i don't think i could ever work for tips. i'm too partial to speaking my mind these days - years of being in the military will do that. ah, i see. singing wait staff, that must be quite the experience.

tipping everywhere? that takes a lot of commitment, honestly. i have a question though about the tipping at places like that. does the tip actually go directly to you? or is it like one of those tip jar type deals where the tips get split between everyone at the end of the night?
honestly, i'm used to it by now. i just had to vent a little bit.
Tumblr media
I usually end up tipping everyone everywhere I go. I feel bad if I hit "no tip" on the iPad... Then again, we have that option turned on at Common Grounds and I always feel guilty when someone tips me. Like no, I don't deserve it!
I'm sorry you aren't getting any tips from singing and serving, though. If anything, you should be getting double for both services you provide.

ha! yeah, it definitely isn't easy. i'm glad though that we don't have to do anything extra crazy like performing on roller skates! if we had to do that, i just might end up falling flat on my face. it just baffles me that tourists will spend all this money getting here and paying for their stuff, but then will end up stiffing us servers when they're here. honestly, just come in some time and tip me really well and i'll consider it made up for all the shitty people this week.
Tumblr media
you guys deserve more than just the average tip, honestly. you're not only providing great service, but top-notch entertainment on top of that. singing your heart out while balancing a tray packed with food takes some serious skill, and if people can't appreciate that, they should just stay home and cook for themselves. i'm sorry to hear you guys are still dealing with people like that.

honestly, i love that for you. you were able to escape the hells of the restaurant industry, and now look at you making better money and doing less work with less stress.
Tumblr media
Like, I definitely make better tips as a bartender, it's part of why I stopped being a waitress, but I remember those days. Of large orders with rude customers and zero tips. And back then I didn't have any secondary income the way I do now. But I also worked way more, for ultimately much less.

yeah, i'm fully convinced they were tourists. it just blows my mind though that people can spend all this money to get here and buy their theatre tickets and hotels, but then can't be bothered to tip their servers at the restaurant. like.... if you're going to do that, just go get some fast food? at least at taco bell they don't expect a tip for toasting your crunchwrap supreme. okay, i won't lie, that one does seem a little extreme, but i can see the thought behind wanting to repay for your help.
Tumblr media
Maybe they were tourists? Cause I feel like people are usually pretty good about that stuff. Someone once tipped me for helping them put their skates on which I feel like wasn't necessary at all.

i personally do try and tip my bartenders, but i can kind of see why people might not tip them. even if it was the world's worst service, i would feel awful not leaving at least a few bucks, you know? in this last week? five. wait, no.... six. yeah, six.
Tumblr media
I do not understand not tipping server, as a bar tender, I do wish sometimes they would tip us but I don't think I have ever not tipped a server unless they did the worst job ever which rarely happens these days. It's kinda rude not to do so. How many times has someone not tipped you?

finally someone with a brain that gets it! honestly, we really do with some of the crap we have to put up with from certain customers, but hey, what do i know? i "just bring them their food." yeah, i'm sure it was. it just baffles me that people will spend all this money on their flights here and on broadway tickets, hotels and all that, but then think it's still okay to stiff their servers.
Tumblr media
that's so messed up, if anything, i think that the servers at spotlight deserve double the tips because of the extra entertainment the guests get when they're there. it's hard work. i'm so sorry for the inconsiderate tourists (i'm sure they were tourists) who did this to you.

it apparently still needs to be. well, according to the cheapskates that gipped me on tips this week, but i digress. oh, yeah, i get how it might sound a little weird. i work at the spotlight diner: home of the singing wait staff. we pretty much do it all there. wait on tables, provide entertainment.
Tumblr media
i didn't realize this was still up for debate? you have to tip. that's always been the way it is. i can't stand cheapskates. where you do work? that sounds...like an interesting mix of job requirements.

and yet that makes you entitled to commenting on how to do my job? and i should care.... why exactly? i've been busy attending a top school as well, yet i still manage to find the time to balance my job, studies and going to open mic nights. so.... what? you want a gold star or something for choosing to work the service industry over working in a law firm? hey, i stand by what i said. your face just screams meerkat to me, and that's coming from a former gerber baby.
Tumblr media
it wasn't a brag, it was a résumé. sorry i was too busy attending a prestigious university and working at a successful law firm to be busy flipping burgers. my change in career path was a choice, not the only thing i'm capable of doing. oh, i'm a lot of things, sweetheart: intelligent, talented, phenomenal in bed - just to name a few, but ugly is not one of them. that's just objectively untrue, it's like saying 2+2=5, and last time i checked, we're not in an orwellian novel. but fine. stay broke. not my problem.

yes! this! thank you! someone who actually gets it, and not someone that's only worked in service for a couple weeks trying to insert himself into the narrative. for real though, i'd love to see that. it'd definitely make someone think twice about not tipping their waitress.
Tumblr media
I will never understand people who don't tip. And it's always the ones who are aggressively rude about everything too. I genuinely need people who don't tip to try living off the wages of someone who works for tips. Would not survive.

a couple of weeks? am i supposed to be impressed by that or something? because i'm not. far from, actually. a face like yours? for once i'm glad to not have a face like yours. i'd rather not be going around the city looking like a meerkat, but that's just me. look, from someone that's been working in this line of work for a few years now, how about you try coming at me and giving me suggestions on how to do my job once you've been doing it for a lot longer than a "couple weeks."
Tumblr media
have you tried doing something with your face? i've been working at a place that requests tips for a couple weeks now, and i haven't had a problem getting any. maybe you just need to jazz it up a little. i mean, not everyone can have a face and body like mine, i get that, i was incredibly gifted, but still. you either have to find a clientele that's more interested in what you have to offer - or work harder to impress the one you've got.

okay, i have to rant for a minute. i get that "tipping culture" has gotten a little out of control with them asking for tips now at concert merch stands and a bunch of other unnecessary places, but seriously, to not tip your server? especially when we're already making minimum wage, and busting ass to get you what you're demanding and belting out a massive hit from wicked on top of it!
