i love how rairii wasted no time working on the groups social media presence! i had a feeling the new content was related to her influence but she’s apparently (according to fansigns) been editing the 15 second drawing time posts they’ve been making as well. that’s a lot more involved than i expected her to be! i hope we get some fun group youtube content going forward as well, but posting the live clips, using their own sounds, trying to actually have personality on their socials….thank you rairii

I think h!p is planning to downsize soon. At least one of Angerme, Juice, or Tsubaki are going to be disbanded within the next two years. My money's of ANGERME, because there have been 0 moves to add members for a long time, despite them being reduced to one of the smallest in H!P (joint with Ocha Norma). Beyooooonds probably only has a few years left, too. It seems like beyooooonds have decided to follow the route of Kobushi, and go as far as they can without auditions until the time comes to disband.

It’s interesting to hear early Aichan’s voice (up until 2005-ish) She was breathy and would run out of stamina towards the end of lines. Over time she developed into a stamina beast, and that little falter at the end of lines was more a shimmery vibrato. One of my favorite vocal journeys.

Kirara, Momo, Roko and Miku getting to appear in a drama is great. I’m guessing UpFront considers these four the front girls of Ocha? I would have expected Nanamin instead of Miku based on popularity but have no complaints otherwise. I always thought Miku’s vocals were under appreciated anyway. More promotion is always welcome especially in the wake of their latest song being well received.

I always check Morning Musume's twitter appearances to keep up with shows they go on I can watch if they end up on Bilibili and I was shocked that Maria and Homare will be appearing on...FRUITS ZIPPER's show??? A group that debuted the same year as OCHA NORMA has blown up so much they already have their own TV show on terrestrial TV, not streaming? Shouldn't that inspire UFA to really push their groups harder? Fuckkk man what are we doing here.

I'm not a manager but this company could really do better with the KSS system. If they took on a system closer to what Johnny's Jr. did in the late 90s-2000s it might help H!P. Not every trainee needs to debut and grinding for years doesn't mean you deserve debut. For a few years it feels like they just debuted almost everyone who stuck it out and the result has lead to overbloated groups with diluted star power and almost H!P group kind of blends together now because there's no clear group identity anymore when they're just throwing KSS anywhere. What they SHOULD do is treat the KSS system as its own bubble like Johnny's Jr did. Let them regularly perform at smaller idol festivals, launch a dedicated YouTube or variety series where you get to see the girls not as little worker bees but their own person and let them develop characters BEFORE they debut. They had a regular KSS show in the early 2010s and it made girls like Rikoriko, Murotan and Rikako even more popular so it shouldn't be hard to do that again. And no, I don't want to see KSS doing what they do on H!S but actual variety please. Then the KSS would be seen as actual idols not just placeholders. And with that system in place they should only debut the standouts, standouts being the KSS who have proven they can add something to the group they debut with and bring in a stronger following. They standouts are NOT just the girls who worked their ass off and had their parents shell out money to let them stay on for years. The overall H!P structure would be stronger and higher quality if they treated the KSS system that way. Another bonus would be that girls would be motivated to join KSS and not just fuck off to another idol company if they fail an audition because they would be treated as idols proper, not just little worker bees.

Running hard against popular opinion here but Juice=Juice have always been my least favorite group performance-wise. I love their music and MVs but watching their live performances just leaves me cold. Vocally, yes, most of Juice=Juice is better than the Hello Project average but it’s like they lean too hard on the stand and sing style, and that bores me without an MV to liven things up.

If I was a kss and got put in j=j I would internally feel like I was the best. The group is known for their powerful vocals and explosive stage presence. Tell me that’s not a confidence boost for any trainee that’s placed there. I know there’s a humbleness that comes with it bc you’re expected to catch up to the senior members but knowing that their current abilities landed them in j=j would have me walking on air lol

Nishida Shiorin is literally the only one *so far* who understood the assignment when it came to the WAGAMAMA part of Wagamama Request. She literally made herself the center of Morning Musume. I also love the wota reactions, a good portion were like "wow she really did that...." and a smaller portion was a little bit uncomfortable. Which is great because it's such a new concept! TBH I imagine it only worked because she's top 2 in popularity in BEYO. If an unpopular member of another group made herself center of Morning Musume for a performance the "buT THE FLAGSHIPPP" wota would've gone full WWE and rushed the stage all at once.

Secret Summer's lyrics sounds like a song about two people on a summer trip together cheating and I thought it was just me but Japanese fans seem to agree. It's funny because the original Kanashimi ga Tomaranai is the POV of a woman whose husband was stolen from her. Weird for two of their songs back to back to be about cheating but okay.

Recently just discovered Tsubaki Factory's new single 'Secret Summer'. It'll be released tomorrow (depending on your timezone, in some zones it might already have been released)

It reminds me of those 2000s/2010s J-pop sounds. More of a summery song with a combination of cool, cute, and refreshing image... but it sounds a bit outdated. Is this a pre-release for their next album? Maybe yes, but let's wait.....

I don't feel any ill will towards Mizuki as an idol but why is it whenever she posts pics and videos of her pets AT HOME they're always in cages? 🤔 They're big cages but they're still cages at the end of the day.

Congratulations Riho on her soon-to-be Avex debut. Even though she wasn't my favorite colorful member, I've recently come to appreciate the fact their would be no colorful era without her. I look forward to seeing her grow into a real artist 頑張ります 🌟

It's so weird to reread Otsuka Aina's post where she explains that she left JJ because she didn't think she was strong enough in singing. Her groupmates were also heavily criticized before their debut. I remember how secretly recorded concert audios were distributed where all the girls were singing out of tune. But it's okay: hard work on yourself - and a miracle happened. It's a shame that no one could instill in her more confidence that everything would work out in the end.

A kind soul uploaded Airi’s 31st BD event and my god I forgot how good she was. She was in H!P for so long and graduated from H!P the same year 13th gen debuted so her presence was just taken for granted because she was there for so long imo. She’s the last well rounded star to come out of H!P and I totally get why she’d always so booked and busy. She’s a star.
