I enjoyed hearing everyone’s interpretation of my project today. Some one got the connection between the paper & wood which was nice. All I really wanted was for people to talk about the words, I shared parts of the Cheropoem ā€œFor Colored Girlsā€ that I find most striking & that would be great topics for discussion. The quotes brought up issues of Black femininity, love, rape, self love, hurt and healing. In a perfect world an audience member would read a card & we’d discuss the quote in relation to our personal lives or decide if we relate to the quote at all. The flowers in this case represent communication & my preferred communication is writing hence why there are pens attached to the flowers & the wood represents paper. Overall this was about communication one of my favorite pieces of work by a writer I admire.
The words inside the flower read; ā€œThis was a test to see how selfish I could be, to see if I could really carry on to snare a possible lover. To see if I was capable of debasing myself for the love of another. To see if I could stand not being wanted when I want to be wanted and I can not. This note is attached to a plant I’ve been watering since the day I met you, you may water it your damn selfā€

SITE SPECIFIC ART
Tree Line by Zander Olsen
These works are by an artist named Zander Olsen. He wraps trees with white material and creates lines that relates to the horizon line behind the trees. I really enjoyed looking at his work. He draws a huge relationship between the tress and their background almost making them become one. The viewer would have to be at the cameras point of view in order for this work to have its intended impact. Perspective is very crucial in ā€œ Tree lineā€ we have to engage with this art work by shifting our perspective to see the whole thing.

This was fun, I only had waves in mind while making this abstract piece. I personally like projects that don't require an initial meaning behind them, I enjoy people coming up with what they think the piece is/ means.

Inspiration for my living room wall. I really like this idea of random objects sitting on oddly shaped shelves .
