Goals enable us to achieve focus in life by helping us to determine what we want. They keep us motivated and propelled, constantly putting us in state of action.
Goals represent the decisions we make and the commitments we take in order to reach or to achieve more in different parts of life.
Goals increase persistence.
5 CHARACTERISTICS OF GOALS

Realistic
Timely
SPECIFIC
Being specific is the foundation for any goal because if you don't know where the end zone is, you will not know how to score.
MEASURABLE
Measurable refers to the fact that a goal has to have a ruler or scoreboard attached to it. So it is easier for you to look how much have you achieved.
ACHIEVABLE
Set goals that you are able and willing to commit.
REALISTIC
Look back at your goals and determine if they are too lofty. You might need to carefully evaluate your capabilities of achieving the goal.
TIMELY
Give yourself a time frame for accomplishing your goal. Without a time frame tied to your goal, there isn't a sense of urgency and you'll be less motivated to make it happen.
