The opening of markets and the globalisation of economic activity has created new flows of materials, components, information, and finished products. As a global system of manufacturing has emerged, significant quantities of manufactured goods are now imported and exported across the world. One example of this is evident through the commodity of food, whether it’d be raw agriculture or processed foods, particularly, the exportation of grains such as rice.
According to the Berrigan Shire, a large exporter of wheat, rice was first grown in Australia in 1914 when 200 acres of flood prone land on the Murray River near Swan Hill was used to demonstrate the cultivation of rice from Japan (Figures 1 & 2). The first commercial rice crop was grown in 1924 in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area around the townships of Leeton and Griffith (Figure 3). When this began, rice was exported locally, or to the Australian and New Zealand troops during World War II (Figure 4).
Today the rice industry contributes to supporting 63 regional towns, all of which are located in the temperate climate of southern NSW and North Eastern Victoria. There are approximately 2,000 farms eligible to grow rice in Australia producing around 1 million tonnes of rice each year. Rice is Australia’s third largest cereal grain export, and the ninth largest agricultural export. SunRice, a well-known Australian brand of rice for example, supplies 60 major international destinations, including countries in the Middle East, North America and Asia (Figure 5). In a non-drought year, up to 80% of Australian rice is exported. That represents about 2 per cent of world trade, and 25% of medium grain trade. According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Australia is classified as the most efficient producer of rice in the world, as Australia provides ideal climatic conditions in order for the growth of rice to thrive.

The experience of water footprint calculator was a good one as it illustrated to us the amount of water that we have been consuming on daily basis while undertaking different activities. One of the strategies that we used from the website to reduce our overall footprint of water was the strategy of not keeping the tap in the kitchen open for too long. Previously, we used to keep out taps open for too long while washing hands which resulted in too much water being waste on a daily basis. As a result, we decided to reduce the flow of tap water that we used to wash our hands and dishes along with reducing the overall number of minutes for which the tap was kept open. After one week, the overall results were positive as the reading from our footprint calculator showed that we have improved considerably in terms of using the overall level of water at our households. The experience was a good one for us as we were able to develop awareness regarding the safe and effective consumption of water at our households. Furthermore, the activity was helpful for us in practicing our skills in terms of how to use water efficiently and effectively. Moreover, the other activities that were required to be completed and undertaken in the task were also based around completion of successful activities that were related to use of music along with making choice of households for the individuals. The experience that was gained in this respect was also concerned with discussion with someone who has moved to Australia and has been living there for the past 20 years. All these tasks and activities were expected to be crucial and helpful in improving my knowledge and skills with respect to dealing with different situations and scenarios.

Greta’s public image is affected by her interaction with her fans mainly through social media and their personal response to her music. Musicians aim to maintain a consistent image as it gives likeminded fans greater affinity towards the artist and whatever creative, political or social perspective they may put forth.
Pictured above is Greta Stanley’s webpage, one of the main communication methods she employs. I chose to feature her webpage because it is the most flexible platform to express ones self online. Visually her image reflects themes of the grunge aesthetic (a common feature of punk/indie rock society). Interestingly, there’s more colour and brightness than would be typical in a grunge style scene, linking to her music which commonly carries lighter tones among the serous content. This visual representation develops continuity with her music, making for a consistent online image that reflects her music perfectly.

Greta’s songs are emotional and dramatic. As an upcoming artist she doesn't have a wide variety of work, but still manages to develop a wide range of styles.
Mental health, anxiety in particular is the focus of her hit song ‘Lakes’. The verses in this song repeat the question “I’m boring, I’m boring... I am annoying, I am annoying?” the realisation of self doubt and angst is the salient feature of each verse and through its repetition, becomes the obvious message her song is conveying,

Greta Stanley is a musician from far north Queensland. She is one of the winners of Triple J's prizes for Grovin' the Moo 2017.
Greta focuses on a slower paces style of indie pop that reflects the likes of ‘Angus & Julia Stone’ and ‘Vance Joy’, both well known for their anthemic and emotional songs. Greta’s music is lyrically centred with the melodic acoustic guitar as accompany. This sound signature is typical of the genre which stems from the subculture of indie rock in the late 70′s. Her style exhibits a lighter, more upbeat tone than that of indie rock but still manages to maintain a serious mood, allowing her to explore deeper concepts within her lyrics.
