Family-owned costume shop in Southend-on-Sea. This was my sanctuary, a place to acquire the catalysts in which I could change/alter my vessel. A magical kingdom of otherness. There was no place like it. The jank between the jewels. Polyfiberous aroma. Wigs, there hanged in thought, in potential, of who you could be.

Every time I walked in, was a promise of myself becoming more than what I am.

Focussing. A target. Lens-view. Viewed emotion, not experienced (enough). Tallying the tears from the observing irises. I really don’t want to be here. Look at me, actually don’t. Viewer as partaker, you’re in the room, as am I. This room of pixels maybe too small? Limited, cropped, cut, spliced, filmed for your viewing: my pain.

SERMUN vv. I: Continue.

They say “things come in threes” I wish they hadn’t said that. In blood and name, a path is caved in ancestry.

Am I, Harry to continue this tree?

Forsee, I need a degree to turn to I yearn for a me that is not Want what is not Be who I’m not.

This armour, heavy It’s weight, alive on me. Is me I am it and inside of it. No pause for concern. No contemp(t)- plation. Too much, now.

Deep is this line, this bloodline. A thread, this thread, threading us together, for without it we’d surely be apart. I have contempt for you. I hate you. At times, yes. At times, no. At times, I just don’t think so.

Crest, crestens beam. Routinely, I navigate this stream. Set forth, taking me. Breaking me still. Bruised, from word more than fist. From verbal jab than knife-puncture. From authority unjustly wrathed, than deserved tender.

In name I have, is it nature too? Am I another you you? Is me me, me? Will I repeat, weep, hurt and forseek?

Will I die Alice Size?

Tubed up, leaning on machining for life. Leaning on others. Pushing them, prodding for productivity. Jesting. Besting. Thinking of other.

Will I miss this? Will I miss everything? Will I stare unto reflection seeing an amalgam of three. Of him, you and me. This isn’t me.

Will I be scared of myself (as I am now)? Continue a path to this cenotaph. Inevitable doom. Early, cut-short. Regressed and stagnant. Staying, not exploring. Not mooring, delaying. Avoiding. 

Tackling and standing comes quicker now. I am not filled with regret, just yet. Its buds do blossom though. A climb up to fall down. To end. To no more.

To not seeing you again. It again. All my problems again. Easy jump. Easy choice, nothing to do. Or to be. Yet it hurt to try, it hurt to mind.

Mind if I stay, actually?

Expanded being. Descent the only form of ascent. Divine conscious sent down, dropped, displaced from origin. Occupying vessels, machine  bodies to feel and roam. Grow, young fruitful being, unearth yourself. Evolve.

“Earth is a place where souls are sent to evolve.” This artwork derives its core idea from an excerpt in ‘THE WAR OF ART’ Winning the Inner Creative Battle’ by Steven Pressfield. Taking Steven’s thoughts on self-growth and the artistic pursuit.

Tackled a visual style I hadn’t done before, leaning into more modern graphical anime, closer to NGE. All flattening into a single colour, high-contrast vector. The facial features are deliberately skewed, and off, to exaggerate the eyes and to get that ‘baby’ head shape. Translating SadBoi’s unique look and features, finishing off with her signature chromed heart neckpiece. 100% done on trackpad. Available now on whysosadboi.com

Closing. Embracing the illusions of illuminated Red from lids I yearn to possess. For now, leaking orifices suffice for this emotional leak. Burning sorrow emptied from inside my own face. Outpouring, streaming, bleeding. Was I made this way?
