Week 12 - WIAB
I then formed a book that focused on showcasing the current best seller audiobooks. When designing the actual book I wanted to enhance the visual elements of the audiobook covers by creating backgrounds that add to the stylistic influences used in the cover art.
I also decided to format the book to be read through a mobile phone in order to juxtapose the different experiences one would have when reading the physical book compared to the virtual.
I also wanted to have an audio book read to you whilst you look at the images. This concept allows people who are illiterate to be able to experience books both audibly and visually through the form of the audiobook book.

Week 11 - WIAB
I wasn’t sure what to do due to the skull breaking however I found inspiration in the form of audiobooks. I listen to various podcasts on Spotify which started me thinking if they would be considered books. This lead me to explore Audiobooks where I realised that the cover art used for audio books were altered to a square format similar to album covers used on iTunes and Spotify.

Week 10 - WIAB
In week 10 I had began the process of organising my book.
I had also started developing cards to be placed in the skull. I used the process of scraping google images to find the top philosophers which I would use to create a range of cards with quotes about what it means to be human.
I also found a skull which I had planned to use as essentially the cover of my book. Sadly however I ended up dropping the skull destroying it... This was a very annoying moment as I didn’t have a back up plan for the skull.

Week 9 - WIAB
The Aspen Magazine prompted my thought process into creating a book consisting of various different forms of media exploring the human senses.
I wanted to create something that you didn't just read but experienced.

Week 9 - WIAB
I then began my exploration into artists such as Dan Graham who created such works as the ‘Aspen Magazine’. This magazine was a collection of various forms of art collated into what Dan called a magazine, ranging from records, art, music compositions, stickers and various other artworks.

Week 8 - WIAB
When posed with the assignment to create a postdigital book I started by researching what the idea of ‘post digital’ actually is. This lead me to the conclusion that postdigital is a work that is more concerned with being human than being digital. This prompted my thought process into coming up with ideas that take a digital work and focuses on the human side of it.

Reflection or whatever...
Aight well it was an alright experience, honestly could have been better since all we did for 12 weeks was make 12 cards which is kinda something you can do in a day maybe even a week...  Overall I give it a 8/10 cause it was a pretty chill course. It would have also been interesting to maybe have a rotation and get people doing stuff like that but you know this was chill so good on ya.

Week 9 - Studio 1 Core
This week was dedicated to discussing traditional copyright laws vs Open Source and Open Design initiatives. We looked at the challenges and opportunities of adopting sharing licences such as the Creative Commons.
This was very interesting for me as it taught me key information that will help me greatly in the future.

Week 6 - Studio 1 Core
We looked at the Wimpy burger campaign where they used seeds to write in brail on a burger. WOW it was a pretty cool idea really pushing the fact that food can be used to make pretty much anything!

Week 4 - Studio 1 Core:
In our Core Class we were tasked with creating an ‘Exquisite Corpse’ with the people sitting at our table. The goal was to create a mixed figure using magazine cutouts, with each person creating a different part of the body without seeing the other parts. What we ended up with were a range of strikingly unique figures.

Week 4 - Studio 1 Lecture - Part 2:
We then went over to look at the Pretty Ugly side. Andy introduced us to Supermarchés ugly fruits and vegetables campaign in 2014, which focused on the fruits and vegetables that are disfigured in a way and thus deemed not fit for sale at large supermarkets. The purpose for their campaign was to educate customers that just because the food looks strange doesn't mean it should be thrown away it’s still normal fruit and veg.

Week 4 - Studio 1 Lecture - Part 1:
During the lecture we looked at what Andy called ‘Pretty Sweet, Pretty Ugly’. The first part of the lecture we looked at the ‘pretty sweet’ aspects of using food in design. The above image is of Atsuhiro Hayashi’s Polar Ice. He has created a mould for ice in the shape of a polar bear or two penguins on an ice block which you can put into your drinks. This is an awesome design as it livens up the ice blocks which are usually just a square or rectangle piece of ice.
