There was final shopping and yes, extra suitcases. This very careful and lovely taxi driver is taking us to Nippori Station to catch the Keisei Skyliner to Narita Airport, bound for AKL > PMR. I’m sure we’ll find time at the airport for an Asahi.

Final day begins with a quiet walk in the park before the heat and humidity of the day get to busy!

…and late night train rides home…

…and then to a tiny bar in Golden Gai, Kabukicho for an aperitif!

Final night in Tokyo, hitting up the yakiniku in the market under the tracks at Ueno.

I can see for miles. Had lunch at the staff cafeteria on the 32nd floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Meredith said the guys from roading are here all day.

Ueno is the keeping it real area of Tokyo, with some grit for sure, you will see homeless people with cardboard and blue tarps. Also, there’s a lot of construction going on, feels like some overdue urban renewal is coming to the hood.

Looks worse than it is :) A short and slightly soggy walk to the accom in Ueno, but expected to clear for our final round of Tokyo for the next three days, last minute visits to; Hardoff, Kitchen Street, Uniqlo, Loft, Akihabara and all stops in between.

It did not take much persuasion for Fleur to take to train beers n snacks and the green car life

For our last ride on the Shinkansen (Nagano > Ueno, Tokyo) we are riding Green Class! Like premium economy for trains…
