Hashimada Week 2025 Sneak Peek

Prompt: First time

Hashirama leads him around a corner and down a cobblestone street towards the parking garage. He pushes open the door to the stairwell and the two of them run to the top story, footsteps echoing loudly on the concrete. Hashirama explains, breathless, how he and his friends would go to the movies and sit at the top of the parking garage afterwards, watching night fall on the city.

The door swings open and Hashirama runs out into the night air, arms open wide. The roof is empty but for a few lights around the perimeter. Madara slows to a walk, watching as Hashirama spins and skips in the open air, free as a bird taking flight for the first time.

“You’re full of energy tonight,” he says. “Unlike that night you fell asleep on me.”

“I was tired and nervous that time!”

“Has the novelty of sneaking out at night worn off, then?”

“No, but the anxiety has,” Hashirama says, circling back around to walk beside Madara. “Now I just walk out the back door.” The two of them sit down side by side near the edge of the roof, sheltered in by a short railing.

Madara tuts in mock disapproval and shrugs his bag off. “You’ve developed a taste for it.” He opens the zipper and pulls out a six-pack of beer. Hashirama’s eyes fly wide open.

“So that’s the big secret,” he says.

“Do you want one?” Madara asks, pulling a can free.

“Sure. Just one, though.” He takes a second can from Madara and pulls the tab open. Foam rises to the surface and spills out onto his hands.

“Sorry. They got all jostled around in my bag on the way up here,” Madara says, holding his beer at a distance while he opens it. Hashirama wipes his hands dry on his jeans, then takes a small sip, his face souring almost instantly. “Tell me that wasn’t your first sip of beer.”

“No,” Hashirama protests, “my dad always buys this cheap beer from the grocery store. I drank one once, but it was gross. This isn’t bad.” As if to prove a point, he takes a long drink, his face carefully blank as he swallows.

“You’re too good,” Madara teases, and Hashirama frowns at him. They sit side by side, knees brushing gently as they watch the sleeping city. “You really can see everything from here.” In the distance, the silhouette of the mountains is black against the cloudy sky. Pinpricks of light dot the the darkened landscape here and there while cars pass through the streets just below them. Madara watches a stoplight shift from yellow to red.

“Look, look. There’s the train,” Hashirama says, grabbing Madara’s arm to get his attention. Far off, the train’s whistle sounds as it snakes through the countryside, guided by a single bright headlight. “Make a wish.”

“Do you make a wish on everything?” Madara asks. “I’ve never heard of anyone making a wish when they see a train.”

“It’s a thing Kawarama came up with when we were younger.” The train vanishes between the mountains, and Hashirama strains to hear the screech of the whistle one last time.

HashiMada Week Sneak Peak

Prompt(s): Wedding, First Time, Fairytale

Tobirama’s mouth was open in a silent scream, his hand outstretched towards his brother. But the merman held him fast, and Hashirama could not reach back.

“It’s okay,” Hashirama managed to say, before being drug down into the watery depths. He couldn’t even think all the unsaid words he’d intended to tell his brother; get back to land, don’t tell father, don’t come after me, I will figure it out. Instead, the rush of water against his ears and the increasing pressure had him struggling, crying out a stream of bubbles.

The merman paused his descent when he felt Hashirama thrashing in his grip. They were already far below the surface. Everything burned; his eyes and his lungs especially. His head felt as though it were full of water, as if it might explode. When Hashirama looked up, he could still see the sun’s rays, though they no longer reached to where they were in the water. With a lurch of dismay, he wondered if he would ever feel them again on his skin.

“I can’t breathe,” Hashirama choked, smacking at the merman’s shoulder, bubbles spurting from his mouth. This futile attempt at communication cost him more air. Suddenly the merman brought his face close to Hashirama’s, breathing into—kissing? —Hashirama’s ears, his eyes, nose, and mouth. With a strangled gasp, Hashirama realized he could inhale. The pressure in his ears abated, as did the irritation in his eyes. All the while, the merman kept hold of his hand. Once he seemed satisfied with Hashirama’s adjustment, he pulled him onward, more gently this time.

“Do you remember me?” The merman turned suddenly to Hashirama, grasping him by both hands this time and swimming backwards. Hashirama blinked, and the dark water suddenly didn’t seem so dark, though they were far from the surface now. He trained his eyes on the merman, looking down at his own hands that were grasped by slightly webbed fingers. His eyes traveled upwards, noting the dark tail, the featherlight fins on the back of his elbows, and the scales that trailed here and there on his pale skin. The merman’s face surrounded by a mass of long, black filamentous hair. The revelation hit Hashirama, and he gasped.

“It’s you,” he said. The merman looked pleased at the recognition. “Why can I understand you now?”

“I’ve learned some things,” was the merman’s coy answer. “Hashirama,” he added, and Hashirama felt his face grow warm, even in the cool water.

“What’s your name?”

“Madara.” As they spoke, Madara steadily carried them downwards, until they were adjacent to a large shelf of rock, shielded from the open ocean. Thoughts and memories rushed through Hashirama’s addled mind.

“Madara,” he repeated slowly, rolling the name around on his tongue. Madara tightened his grip on Hashirama’s hands, if Hashirama might drift away and be lost without his hold. “Do your people know I’m here?”

“Not yet, they don’t. I stole you for myself.”

“Well…” Hashirama’s mind refused to cooperate. “I won’t hurt you,” were the words that came out of his mouth, thinking of Madara’s previous interaction with humans.

Madara smirked. “I think it’s you who should be worried about being hurt by me.”

“Oh,” Hashirama squeaked, and Madara looked pleased by the flash of fear that crossed his captive’s face.

“But I won’t,” Madara reassured, unwilling to alienate him too much.

“Oh,” Hashirama breathed in relief. “Why…why did you bring me here?”

“Because Father told me it was time I choose a mate. And I choose you.”

✨A sneak peek of my fic for the HashiMada Week 2025✨

Prompt: Marriage

Madara looked at the whole marriage outfit that the servants left neatly placed on the table near the window. Without a word, he took the haori in his hands, lifting it with care. It was simple and of a dark blue, and yet, it was clearly visible that the fabric was of high quality. It should have costed a lot of money, way more than normally the Uchiha would have spent on such a thing. It was not new that the Senju clan’s means were much ampler than the Uchiha’s, and it was obvious that they would not have spared for the marriage of the next clan leader in line.

As the fabric unfolded, the Senju logo was starkly visible on the back of the haori. The mere sight of it made Madara shiver, gulping at the realization of what was about to happen. He was already aware of the situation he let himself in, and yet, that symbol was an undeniable mark, a permanent recall, of what his life would have been from now on.

“Nii-san, you don’t have to do this!”

Madara turned his head. Izuna was standing at the entrance of the door, already dressed up for the great day. His skin looked still a bit pale, but it was undeniable that life was coming back in his younger brother’s gaze.

“It’s a bit too late, Izuna.”

Madara’s voice was calm, almost a whisper. A clear sign of a man who already surrendered.  

Izuna’s eyebrows furrowed, unable to accept the unfolding of events.

“It’s not true! Hashirama healed me, I’m doing fine now. You don’t have to do this anymore.”

His younger brother made some steps toward him, putting his hand on Madara’s shoulder and looking at him fiercely straight in the eyes.

“I don’t care what everyone will say. You’re still in time to escape. I’ll cover you. Just go!”

Madara’s hands twitched slightly on the fabric at his brother’s words, as if they were physically hurting him. Despite that, he tried his best to keep his face as stoic as possible.

“I’m a man of honor, Izuna. Hashirama saved you. The pact shall be respected. Your life is more important to me than victory and the clan.  I’ve fought my whole life to protect the people I cared about. And when I thought that I could have lost the only one of my brothers who’s still alive, war didn’t make anymore sense to me. If this is the price for your life, the only thing I want is…peace.”

Izuna lowered his gaze for a second, his hand leaving Madara’s shoulder as his arm came back along his side. His hands closed in two fists, trying to contain the rage caused by pure, undeniable, helplessness.

“Yes, but at what price?”
