34th Parallel, Day 3 - Santiago
I slept 10 hours and barely forced myself out of bed this morning. Breakfast was ham fresh cheese and bread from the supermarket we had gone to yesterday. We went to check out the markets starting with Central Market. From there we walked from market to market until we got to the one where locals actually shop at. There were separate markets for flowers, fish, meat, clothing and the biggest of all vegetables. Not a lot of pics there because it seemed like the perfect place to get something stolen. On the way to the markets we also stopped at a bank, and this time we used the "foreigner" button to get the prompts in English and successfully got money out. After that we went to the National Fine Art museum. It was disappointing but a good way to get cooled off with air conditioning. It was also free. There were lots of replicas of statues and a few original pieces. There weren't as many Chilian artist represented, which was a bummer. (If it's not good at least it could have been local). There was one local artist showing at the gallery, but his aesthetic concentrated on, I kid you not this was written on the wall about the artist, soap operas and gay porn, and his ... Art... Showed that. We went to a a cafe across the street from the museum and the park (going to admit I didn't like walking there, this was where the bird poop thing happened yesterday) and the cafe was wonderful and we had coffee and a ham and cheese croissant. We decided to walk to buy empanadas for dinner. We were going to take it back to our apartment and eat there while we rest, but we stumbled on this unmarked street vendor market where people sold all sorts of hand made goods. Well, good thing we had broken our large bills because we ended up buying some things from here. Next we tried to take an Uber to Castillo Hidalgo, but the way was blocked. By the time we walked up the hill, the castle was closed, but K and I spend more than 2 hours there because of the beautiful views and beautiful gardens. The path really meanders down the mountain. I got to try... Forgot the name, drink with peaches and barely. K didn't risk it because she is allergic to peaches and even though these seemed canned, we weren't sure. Now we're back at our apartment, going to go out in a little bit for dinner. And yes, 9 pm is dinnertime.

Day 2
Brunch at twisted fork. Banana stuffed French toast and a Monsieur croquet with tomato soup. Leon was right, this place was awesome. Skyyrain to airport. Toronto outside 9 degrees Celsius but we're got in the airport wearing t-shirts. Weird echoy art installations at the airport. Katie dropped boiling tea... Then caught it dramatically with minimal splash damage.

The 34th Parallel South
This trip is called The 34th Parallel South, but starts in Vancouver. After work left to go to Jin station, barely making it there. Met up with K and took bus to Vancouver. Staying at the fanciest Best Western I have ever seen, 10 stories tall, on Granville which reminds me of Capital Hill. Took a taxi to eat Ramen across the water (the bay?) Came back in to the hotel. Interestingly, each room here has its own wireless access point. The room is huge and is actually two rooms with two double beds in a bedroom that is separate from the living room area. Great, we now have 2 TV's, that means K and I will not fight over what to watch, right?
