We like to make jokes about fade tongue and enjoyable side benefits, but one of my favorite moments in the Solas romance is after the first kiss when Solas says he just wants to talk.

This has to be a very confusing, conflicting, maybe even terrifying moment for Solas - realizing he can no longer hide his feelings for Lavellan and that she holds the same for him. And rather than send the source of that confusion and fear away, he asks her to stay and spend time with him. And that’s so important because any good relationship is built upon enjoying each other’s company and being able to rely on each other when someone’s hurt or scared or conflicted.

Even with the whole world changing before his eyes and knocking him off balance, Solas asks her to stay with him because he wouldn’t want her anywhere else, because he genuinely takes comfort in her presence. And just sitting and talking with him is the must uplifting thing she can do for him right now. And I freaking love that.
