We renewed our lease today! I can't believe we've been here a year already. I remember when we first moved to NYC we only signed a year lease cause we didn't know how we'd like it or if we'd even make it a year working on Haute Hijab full-time with no "real" job to fall back on for both myself and Ahmed. (Let's keep it real I think our families are still a little worried, lol) To be honest at this point in my life I thought I'd have a house and kids by now (with a pink door like this beauty I died over in London) but if there's one thing I've been tested with over and over in the past year, it's tawakkul - trust in God that I'm exactly where I need to be. There's always something to yearn for and wish we had, but the key is to be thankful for the amazing bounties and blessing we do have. I had an awesome conversation with @mariahidrissi this morning 💛 One thing we established is if you don't <believe in yourself> no one else will - and further than that, you won't realize your full potential and life's purpose if you don't believe in your abilities. You have to be your biggest cheerleader - and to be your own cheerleader doesn't mean arrogance - it means acknowledging your gifts, what makes you amazing and attributing those beautiful blessings to God. Knowing with conviction that God gave them to you for a reason, to serve a purpose. By not believing in yourself you're squandering your gifts and doing a disservice to God and His gifts He's bestowed upon you. So what are your gifts? Why do you possess them and what are you meant to do with them? Most of all, do you believe in the amazing, unique person you are?
