so when/how did you decide on the Stuilly kiss on closing night?? And why not every night???š¤Ø/hj (but actually thank you so much for that kiss it gives me an embarrassing amount of serotonin)
Well truth be told, Joey & I had been wanting to add it for a loooooong while, like we both were team ālet the boys kissā from fairly early on. So we like both asked our director the night of closing and he said yeah absolutely but only this once haha.
Iām not really sure if Iām able to speak to why not every night, but I will say if it were up to me 100% weād have it every show. But, we donāt HAVE to have the boys kiss for it to be canon Stuilly, I can tell you directly from me to yall that Stuilly is canon as hell in our show.
(And dude of course, ya boy has shipped Stuilly since I saw Scream like over a decade ago, so it was an honor to be a part of)

do trans women need to unlearn patriarchal structures and moral values in order to be good feminists? yessir 100%
but donāt do cis women as well?
youāre not automatically a good feminist because you were born with ovaries, and your opinions are not automatically right and worth listening to because of your cishood.
we are all learning, and being a biological femaleā¢ļø does not make you exempt of having to learn as well.
we all need to collectively do better!

sounds silly but. one of the greatest things ever as someone with a trauma background is learning that things aren't inherently as bad or as scary as I thought. it IS possible to assemble Ikea furniture without arguments. is IS possible to discuss boundaries without having something thrown at me for speaking out of turn. it IS possible to spend hours on end sharing your favourite things with your favourite people, and not get called annoying for it. the world is an incredible place

You don't get sunburnt in Hell, though? In Hell?? Deep underground, where famously the sun is?? That's not what happens in Hell! Hell is a dark forest where your father opens his ribcage and invites you to dance???
Jesus Christ. I just want people to be safe in the sun, and not get burnt.

I talk a lot about how gay I am and how much I love gay stuff but I also want to be clear- straight/het intersex folks, straight/het trans folks, and straight/het aro/ace folks are part of pride to me. Youāre part of my community and youāre welcome here. Closeted and questioning people too, whatever your identity is, you donāt need to be visibly queer or know your label to have a place here.
ANYWAYS HAPPY PRIDE, STOP POLICING EACH OTHER, WE DONāT NEED MORE COPS IN THE WORLD.
Edit:
Also just. Aro/ace people in general youāre part of the community idk why some people are being weird about this

Since the photo of the pope on Stuās fridge has been discovered Iāve seen a lot of takes about how Stu would definitely have religious guilt and would have more issues with his feelings for Billy. I want to be clear I donāt think thereās anything wrong with that take, itās definitely something to explore if it interests you but it also flattens the breadth of responses to a religious upbringing and religious trauma. There are so many ways a person might respond to that kind of experience and it doesnāt just stop with internalized guilt.
What about the people who just kind of never fall in line? Theyāre punished for it over and over but it doesnāt make the religion make sense to them. And maybe they learn over time hide their disbelief, they learn to be quiet at church and hide their same sex partners but the moment theyāre 18 they are gone.
What about the people who believed when they were young and have had an experience to change that? Maybe they saw religion used to justify the mistreatment of a sibling or a friend, and they thought āif there is a god, they wouldnāt think this is rightā.
What about the ones that swing hard in the opposite direction? The ones so angry with the beliefs instilled in them that they do almost anything they can to enrage their religious family? They may not even be doing this intentionally, but teenage rebellion is teenage rebellion, and if your family is catholic then Catholicism might be what you rebel against. What better way to rebel against the anti gay religion than to kiss another boy? Do you know how many queer pagans and Satanists I know who have a history of religious trauma?
Have you ever felt so mistreated by someone or something, so deeply wronged, that almost anything they disapprove of becomes enticing? I definitely have.
And hereās the thing with Stu, he might have a religious family but he sure does talk about sex a lot. Unabashedly too. He spends the night at his girlfriends house, and she confirms that they have sex. He fills his house with people, feeds them booze, and kills a bunch of them. This isnāt giving me the picture of a fearful catholic son.
Before I saw the pope picture I had already been writing Stuās family as conservative and religious. He definitely grew up with the idea that sex is a sin and gay sex is even worse. But heās not a guy that likes authority. He likes sensory pleasure and chaos, and at least some of that is a rejection of his upbringing. Dude watches slasher movies and raunchy comedies like clerks. He fucks and he talks openly about it. He gets drunk and he directs his best friend to go take his girlfriends virginity in his parents bed.
Heās rebelling.
To me? Yeah he might have been the kind of kid who had religious fears and guilts when he was younger. Heās definitely been baptized and his family probably still makes him go to church sometimes. But heās not isolated. Itās the mid 90s and he has access to more media than kids did ever before. Heās had access to alternative view points, narratives that contradict the ones instilled in him when he was young.
And the 90s are a time characterized by a loud rejection of convention. Grunge rocker Kurt Cobain wears dresses, the riot grrl movement is in full swing, and people are getting really into modern forms of paganism. Itās popular to reject your parents beliefs.
Thereās an interview with Neve Campbell where she talks about how she thinks Billy and Stu were partly motivated by the rage of being unable to be themselves in Woodsboro and I think that works really well here. What better what to say a fuck you to your religious parents than to have buttsex with a pretty dude and kill a bunch of people?
Again, this is just the way I see the character. Thereās nothing wrong with different interpretations and fandom would be boring if we all saw these characters in the exact same way. But yeah just an alternative way to look at it.

A spoon's only objective in life is to make soup go upwards, and it knows this. That's why when you put one under a running tap it blasts the water way high. The spoon thinks there's suddenly TONS of soup to deal with and it freaks out.

Just collected me a cool new grandma i guess.
My grandma just called and, among other things, saidĀ āYou have hips. Thatās good! Men like hips!ā and then she interrupted herself to sayĀ āWomen like hips. People of your preferred gender like hips. I can never rememberāĀ
And I was likeĀ āThanks grandma! My preferred gender is none of them, no thanks.ā and she was likeĀ āOkay, no one will comment on your hips!ā very self satisfied, likeĀ āaha, I have figured it outā
I think like half her grandkids are some variety of not-straight and she canāt always remember which is which but she is the epitome of like āsheās a little confused, but sheās got the spirit!ā
