And guess what?? Unlike Siyeon having to listen to Derrick's orders, og!Penelope IGNORES him and Reynold, and only listens to the Duke. Derrick is like, trying to put control over her because she's suddenly so popular in this new time line and he likes her that he wants her to himself, but NAAHH og!Penelope is like ur not dad so shut the fuck up--!! And that honestly makes him so flabbergasted.

Also, og!Penelope is TRAUMATIZED by the MLs so there will be no romance or her interacting with them to win their favour--if she met them, it was by accident/out of courtesy. Its only going to be the MLs chasing after her with Callisto winning and them seeing for themselves that Ivonne is actually a monster.

The whole plot of this fanfic is; Og!Penelope learning that she has a purpose to live, and it's not staying in the Eckhart family.

Duke protective over Penelope than Ivonne

I have a headcanon that the Duke notices something bad is happening to Penelope OR someone is always bullying her, so he is super protective over her. Like, when he someone asks for Ivonne's hand in marriage, he'll just go sure OK i trust you take care of her or if she's in a bad situation, he'll let Derrick figure something out. But if it's Penelope--hell fucking no. That's his special daughter, who he's trying to get her to forgive him.

Remember how he drank the whole time Penelope was recovering from the poison? Or how he was so angry at Marquiss Ellen that he sent a spy to catch some dirt on him for attempting to frame Penelope? Or when Callisto described him as a demon after being chased by him to bring Penelope back home to him? Or when he burst into tears because Judith came out looking like Callisto?

And maybe because Penelope doesn't often show affection as much as Ivonne would, the Duke is so eager for ANYTHING from her, like hugs or kisses or affirmations or calling him dad instead of Duke.
