I had to take my dog out in the rain to get a cone of shame cause she kept trying to chew her stitches and the sight of her miserable face looking back at me through the cone stuck with me.

Hey guys, im bothered by this scene! I really dont like it, and I would like to explain why. Maybe someone in this thread can help me understand better what people like about it.
Lets start from the beginning: Jude Laws character (whos name i have forgotten already,) is introduced as Carols vaguely ominous mentor figure, and from the beginning he tells her what he reiterates in this scene: That she must learn to control her emotions, and shouldnt completely rely on her powers for combat. Thats pretty much standard super hero fair, and many good superhero movies incorporate this trope (”If you are nothing without the Suit, maybe you shouldnt have it” from Spiderman: Homecoming comes to mind). Here comes the first problem: We never actually see her exhibiting any kind of strong emotions. “Aloof“ and “Snarky” are her modus operandi, and thats fine, in general. Tony pulled that off well before his character development kicked in.
She also pretty much never gets into trouble because of her powers going out of control. The only time this kind off happens is in the Skrull Battleship, when she accidentily destroys teh hull, which ultimately destroys the ship. But this is not treated as anything bad, even if it technicaly is, considering the twist later on in the movie.
Now, we have this classic mentor figure whos assertions are, to the viewers, obviously bullshit. While in the beginning we, and Carol, where told that her Powers come from the Kree, and that they are trying to help her control them, those where all lies, only told to control Carol herself. And Jude Law, her mentor figure, who was, I think, shown to be actually on her side to an extend (like in the first scene where he talks to Ronin to tell him off from going to earth, presumably to give Carol more time) is also just lying to her.
So the conflict that was set up in the beginning is just a red herring, and in its place it turns out the Kree (I.e “The System” that Carols grew up in) tried to manipulate her. Her Powers are her own, she can actualy control them, and no bad things happen because of them, which is exemplified in this scene. The entire conflict boils down to “Society lies to Carol, shes actually perfect and doesnt need to change“ and i just dont know who this message is for.
My problem is... in a superhero movie, that outlook is just really lame. It creates boring, static characters. Carol does the exact same thing in the end as she did in the beginning of the movie, in her first duel with him. Almost every superhero movie is about the hero overcoming her/his flaws in order to be better and to do good in the world. This movie is all about Carol not overcoming any kind of flaw she has, but instead merely about overcoming the flawed society she is in. Its presenting the controlling and tyranical side of society, but there is so much more nuance to it. Jude Laws character, if he did actually care about Carol, in his won fucked up way, would have been an interesting way to bring some nuance into the conflict, even if his actions are ultimately wrong and he should be called out on it. But without that, its just black and white. Carol is just perfect all along. And thats really not an interesting character or conflict. The Scene above is not earned in any way, she just does the same thing as in the beginning. And thats just not really appealing to me (and, to be fair, it doesnt have to be). I would still geniunely like to know what others find appealing about this scene, maybe i went into it with the wrong mindset.
Sorry for the meandering wall of text, and sorry for any errors, english is not my first language.
I have nothing to prove to you
